Compared to the Gold Hoarders and the Order of Souls, the Merchant Alliance did not get a proper rebalance for the quest rewards. At most you can get 1 single level if you do a Lost Shipment voyage at emissary level 5. The Lost Shipment voyage needs to give more reward for the effort as neither of the other 2 trading companies takes near as long and is easier to accumulate levels in a reasonable amount of time. The lost shipment needs to have fewer items and they need to be much higher quality. The cargo deliveries and animal crate voyages are not worth the trouble at all because you have to find and capture the animals and keep them alive and the cargo has to be kept in perfect condition which takes a lot of time. The lost shipment is the only viable voyage and it needs to be more rewarding for the effort put into it especially since the lost merchant ship often will not spawn at all leaving you only the manifest and no real reward. This is unacceptable both on the glitch for the ship but also the rewards you get for all the time and effort it takes. This needs to be addressed and made better like the Order of Souls and the Gold Hoarders.
Feedback on the Merchant Alliance
Back in the season 1, when the cargo route mission were added, the cabin was full of loot that can you litterally reach lv5 just in 1 mission. it was broken, but fun. now it's nerfed and is not worth it anymore sadly: the loot is decimate than the S1
i am a big fan of the merchants, my pirate is pretty based on them: white beard, yellow and white shirt, blue hat and jacket, and that are something that i suggest you to do to improve your merchant's game session:
-
in the season 2, they add the trades of products between outposts, where you can be a trader (with also guru course for being rich in your 20's): buy what is the most common thing that an outpost have and drive to sell that in the outpost where the same thing is the most required for the book placed near the merchant. nowdays i think no-one do that thing, i would suggest you to do this thing
-
shrines, terasuries and ghost forts are a good place for loot, the first and the second can give you a pretty good ammount of mermaid's gems or rare little stuff like coffe bag to sell that have a decent value, of course the problem to leave the ship is big, but i have a suggestion also for that: stay in the North-east side of the map, n the zones of Old faithful and Marauder's arch, that's not a very busy place there, or at least is less possible to meet someone there than in the shores of plenty
-
dive into the fortress, skelly ship raid or flameheart, that now will give you some good stuff and a huge piece of loot that have a value betwheen the 10k and 20k, without the emissary value
merchant was always the last wheel of the cart, and sadly the lv5 emissary quests, even after the season 11, is gargbage compared to the others IMO, and it's not worth doing it. i'd love if they add a new type of mission that can give you a decent loot. maybe a skelly flett without the skelly, a sort of fight agaist the royal navy that somehow enters in the Sea of Thieves, that for loot they have a sort of new stuff pretty valuable

Yea this is bad... one in three, one in four ships in my experience don't spawn... They really need to fix that.

I did this the other day, hitting up shipwrecks and bottle quests along the way. It's string that this didn't get us to grade five, but it also made us hundreds of thousands of gold...

yuuuuuuuuuuuuuup....

This is a real good thing to do while doing something else, like buy all the supplies at an outpost then do a lost voyage (they usually end at a sea port or outpost). As mentioned above, the emissary voyage for merchants is a dumpster fire. So get to grade five then do the commodity trading. Easy million gold.
At most you can get 1 single level if you do a Lost Shipment voyage at emissary level 5
I’m sorry what? How can you gain a level at emissary grade 5? You already reached the high lvl….
Which is by far the most profitable. Like GH and OoS, they each have 1 good voyage that is easy to reach G5 by once completed.@burnbacon said in Feedback on the Merchant Alliance:

@menasor01 merchant is my favorite faction so any buff to it is welcome. I do ashen cargo runs religiously and the cut down to 4 cargo from 6 dampened things for me in terms of sailing from location to location. At grade 5 before I’d make approximately 28k per delivery and I’d stack my deliveries so that I wasn’t losing efficiency, as in picking up something else on my way to deliver cargo like going to Ruby’s fall on my way to Brian’s Bazaar. Now with only 4 cargo it ends up having the value of about 5 items. Which might not seem like much, but when you’re stacking cargo, like 3-5 deliveries at a time. At grade 5 that’s like losing 15k-25k per run.
Now the game is more geared towards diving to a destination, picking up, and immediately sailing to deliver. I just feel like dive quests should have 4 cargo, but if someone chooses to sail to a location they should get 6 cargo.
Money is not the problem but Merchant is less profitable compared to the other trading companies. The problem is the amount of work it takes to even get a single level for the Merchant Alliance. The Lost Shipments were nerfed with less valuable cargo. Cargo runs are not practical as you have to keep the cargo in perfect condition and are under a time limit which most people do actually hate. Rare needs to make a new voyage for Merchant that is either more rewarding or quick and easy like the others.
I never get why they nerfed lost shipment.
In terms of risk and reward it was one of best voyages there.
You would get up to emissary 5 in one voyage but everyone who spot you would know that you will change into walking loot dispeners in few stops.
Shame they changed it. It was fun and rewarding to do as solo and simillar fun and rewaed to hunt merchant doing it.
