You can dive and appear right on top of other players doing the event

  • The star feature of Season 11 is already not working as intended.

You can absolutely emerge practically right on top of other players doing the event you selected. I did this with a Gold Hoarder Skeleton Fleet voyage. I emerged to immediately see another player ship doing the event. They sank almost immediately to the Skelly Galleon so I assumed they had already been sunk before I arrived and were just in the process of fully sinking. Not 5 minutes in to fighting the already heavily weakened Skelly Galleon I see a player Brig coming towards me.

There is no way they could have sailed to this event as I checked the horizon upon first emerging from underneath the waves. The only explanation I can find is that the Brig came up out of the waves some 5-6 minutes after I did.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

  • can confirm, earlier i dove to an ashen lord to see a duo-sloop already parked there and on the final phase, along with a galleon coming in behind me. When i killed said ashen lord it did drop the loot from my dive meaning i just took over whatever the sloop worked on

Seems you are about right. They had already Sunk and you appeared. And you said a Brig came toward you, but not appear like you did...so that is normal.

You be surprised how sneaky ships are, that one giant rock blocks just enough and your sense of time is altered.

  • I got caught off guard becouse of that happend lol.

It's very possible that the first player Brig was already defeated by the Skelly fleet and thus the system registered the voyage as "available" for me to join it just in time to see the player ship still sinking.

The sudden appearance of the 2nd player Brig has me a bit more sceptical as I was in a relatively open area and could have seen them coming before they were practically on top of me. But I won't yet discount that they could have already been coming towards the event - expecting to fight the first Brig. That still however leaves the problem of the game spawning my boat within 3 map tiles of this 2nd Brig however, which the system is not supposed to do.

I would need to gather more data from more dives to see if a pattern forms.

  • Keep in mind you are in many cases diving to an in progress event, not necessarily triggering a new event.

Also it is possible to trigger a new event in a location some poor soul was already located or near.

In almost all cases these are existing servers, not new instances so there will be other ships around.

  • Who says it's not intended? They want people to fight over the loot so everyone is wasting time fighting eachother instead of gaining gold and rep. It's working just like how they want it to work.

Well, according to Rare after getting feedback from Insiders they decided they don't want players spawning on top of other players with this mechanic. They even specifically said they didn't intend for players to appear out of nowhere and they want to maintain the need for keeping an eye on the horizon.

  • @vakrisone Can confirm that this still happens. Had a raid spawn me to a skeleton fort that another ship had just pulled up to. Rare probably need to expand the checking radius for player ships; with a favorable wind a ship could go from outside 3 map tile to the center of the event in the time from selecting the server to spawn to the raider being back on the surface.
