Have you ever had a ship come directly towards you from across the map?

    I'm legitimately curious on how often this happens given the size of the map, lol.

    Yesterday I stayed on the roar for a while doing OoS voyages with emissary up, when I noticed a Reaper II on Rum Runner Isle on the map, no big deal. After a while I headed south towards Morrow's Peak, checked my map and they were passing Shipwreck Bay, now at Reaper IV, heading slightly SE, completely fine still.

    From the outpost I saw a skelly galleon very close to the eastern border, then I decided to have a run at it. We ended up fighting south of Glowstone Cay, mistakes were made and I was very close to losing the fight, bucketing water and repairing like crazy without paying attention outside, then I hit a rock.

    At that point I already knew I had lost. Now imagine my surprise when I go take a look at my map and that Reaper IV was right there next to me, I couldn't believe my eyes. Wow, someone else came all the way here?

    Fortunately (unfortunately?) for them, when they arrived my ship was already gone. I hope they enacted vengeance in my name at least, by sinking that skelly galleon.

    I was just wondering if someone else had something like this happen to them.

    Brigs are ridiculously fast and very often highly aggressive in play style when interested in pvp because they know how fast their vessel is in all directions.

    They were just looking for action and at least one of them saw your boat or they just ruled out areas and guessed.

    Pretty common, especially with brigs.

    @wolfmanbush I was very impressed they managed to find me before reaching grade V, not gonna lie. Totally expected them to turn around and go sell, instead they went on an outpost tour. Probably checked Galleon's and Daggertooth, then sailed straight towards Morrow's, from where they eventually saw me.

    Roar quite often has at least one ship out there, people often say it's dead but I go all over the map and it's pretty common to see at least one ship out there.

    I see more activity in the roar than I see in areas like up around sailors bounty these days.

    I've had a few times where I log in, see a Grade V Reaper on the map turning towards me, move a few islands over & check again, and they are still coming towards me.
    So I go a few more islands over & check again, and they are adjusting to come at me.

    I usually assume, at that point, that since they seem to know where I am without being able to see me, that they must be using 'Gameplay Assistance Programs' and promptly quit the server.

    It's certainly not something that happens every session or even close to it, but I've seen it happen a surprising amount of times. It's especially strange when the reaper ship and my own spawn outside of view range and they somehow manage to track me despite me not having an emissary flag up, and with me taking time to alter my course so as to try and stay out of there view range. To this day, I'm still confused both on how it's worth the other person's time and how they are able to tail me despite all the distance kept between us.

    To newer players the map often feels big but, when you get to know it well, it feels a lot smaller. The route the Reapers took in the OP makes me think they were just hunting Emissaries and didn't spot any targets in the OG areas of the map so headed for the Roar.

    If they had visited an outpost on the way, they would have known there was an OOS Emissary, so they were looking for it. They would have been able to spot a ship at Glowstone Cay around the time they passed Morrow's Peak (where they would have probably checked the Emissary tables again) - if you imagine a circle with a radius of 5 map grid squares wide, that's roughly the LOD distance for seeing a ship, and the Emissary flag would have been a massive giveaway. That's why I tell newbies not to fly any flag unless you want to be easily spotted.

    It's very easy to get caught up in thinking everything looks a bit sus, sometimes they are but there are perfectly reasonable explanations most of the time.

    @realstyli My understanding is emissary or not, if someone really wants to find you, they will find you regardless. In fact, most Reapers usually don't mind me at all and just keep doing their own thing. Athena's emissaries, on the other hand, have been relentless every single time.

    @linowx at first they may have been just sailing East but but if you know what to look for you can spot player ships pretty far out they may have only noticed you once they got into the wilds or closer to the edge between the wilds and roar and that's when the B lined for you my crew has done this also the Brig is very fast but underestimate a Galleon with wind they can be very fast and with the right crew and near by rocks can out maneuver a sloop

    We had a galleon sink our alliance at Ashen Reaches then moments later sink us at Scorched Pass!
    Same galleon, same crew. Something very sus about that one. Reports were submitted by both crews. No idea if anything came out of it

    Did they have time to look at your allianced crew's map, see where you were, and sail to you?

    @realstyli You are missing the point. They went fully South to fully North in the Devils Roar in under a minute. Same galleon. Same crew
