Chest of Legends lacks its price

  • Upon a lot of Seasons and game updates, The game now has the real Chest you always want to steal - Chest of Fortune.
With this, many people lost interest in the previous crown holder - Chest of Legends.
This is totally OK, but now (and even before) I think Chest of Legends deserves a much better price value than the current is.

Even Ashen Skull is a more lucrative price than the Chest of Legends.

While Chest of Fortune sits on 20k gold, Chest of Legends could be 14k for instance (or anything between 10k-20k).

  • @frixsik For the prices that new cosmetics are being sold at, all the loot should go up by 50% at least imo and special valuable items like Chest of Legends, Stronghold skulls, Captain skull of the damned etc should go up by a double imo.

No I'm not greedy, who told you that?

  • @frixsik chest of legends is ~10.000 without emissary value

That's pretty good value imo...should have seen it in year 1, it was about 3.000-4.000 that days

  • @schwammlgott Where do you get yours, mine are constantly around 6k-7k base value

6k-7k was after the first buff we got in december 2018
Now it's 9k-12k...don’t remember when that buff came
I get mine from legend of the veil and emissary voyages...just did last week

  • @ZiG-ZaG-LTU Totally agree. Not because of the price of new cosmetics, but because of making these items lucrative compared to any other loot in the vault.
Now, If I look into the opened vault, I don't see much difference in taking only the Chest of Legends, Chest of Fortune, or any other chest. The price is very similar even though the chest tries to look lucrative.

And that's a big issue, I think in terms of interest in defeating World events. You can get money from everything, but rarely you can plunder one item that is much better value than everything else.

    @schwammlgott I really doubt.
Try to sell one, but the base is less. RNG price is something that might be nice to change, IMO.
The main point is that the Chest of Legends requires some greater effort to acquire and the price should reflect it. At the minimum, the price should be the same or greater as Ashen Skull.
Also, another reason to make it more valuable is to make it more lucrative and interesting to plunder. I rather plunder Ashen Skull or any Stronghold item (they are many often) instead because they are more valuable.

Good. So I can can do veil missions and have not worry.

  • @frixsik I will take a closer look next time, but I'm sure that's the price of it

  • Slightly off topic but related to the loot pricing discussion, it's always puzzled/bothered me that the stronghold kegs sell for more than the kegs of ancient black powder.

One is clearly more rare than the other and is part of the "end game" family of loot, but sells for less than something I can find on a shipwreck or from a random set of skeleton captain orders.

  • Gold creep is a thing. Theres a very narrow window in which gold has any real value, I dont think increasing payouts is neccesary

I would disagree with this take.

Think about it, how many items you get are worth less than 1 000 when you just play casually? Quite a few, obviously with grade 5 you sell them for more, but emissary should not be looked at as a mandatory thing.

Perhaps the mid tier items are priced correctly and you are right. But the lowest tier ones like castaway chests, those artifacts on the beach, tea crates, foul bounty skulls are basically worthless and a lot of top tier items are not on ''most wanted'' list.

Ever since I started the game, I would always collect every single piece of treasure I find, even if it's a massive island and it would take me some time running around. I have noticed currently that I sometimes ignore and don't bother with those cheap items at all (other pirates don't even care about top tier skulls or captain chests)

The reason why I don't collect them, is that if I am saving for as an example DA hull, 150 gold is meaningless.

Same goes for top tier items. You see someone doing Ashen Winds several squares away, a regular fort, now even FOF...Would everyone really flock there in hopes of stealing an item worth 8k? Now COF, even after getting the first grade commendations, was always lucrative as it felt like it's worth the time/trouble.

Devs always try their best to increase player interactions and help newer players. IMO raising the value of lowest tier items and top tier ones would help to achieve both.

@burnbacon Sure. I will hunt you down once I see your tornado. :-)
Even though it takes about an hour to finish it, so it would be still a reasonable price change.
