Betrayal, counter-betrayal, and disorganization.

  • I started up a sloop session with a family member, and saw that there was an unoccupied FoF right nearby. When my crewmate and I had completed all but the last wave of the fort, another duo sloop showed up and we formed an alliance with them. Once we completed the fort, it seemed like they were probably going to betray us, since they still had their weapons out and one of them picked up an Athena keg right away. I followed the pirate with the keg to keep an eye on him, and sure enough, my crewmate informed me that the other pirate was attacking him. I hurried to my ship, and set sail just as they tried to board our ship. My crewmate respawned, and I told them to start firing on the other sloop. Unfortunately, my crewmate was not very experienced, and by the time my crewmate got the cannonballs and aimed the cannon, we were fired upon. I had to move closer to the fort to get out of the way, which made it even harder for my crewmate to fire upon them. By the time we decided who should do what, it was too late. We only got a few shots off before we were blown up by an Athena keg. Moral of the story: Have a counter-betrayal plan ready to go whenever you are in an alliance.

  • You'll do awesome as time goes on.

gaining the experience, examining your approach and strategizing based on your experiences, you're on the path to improve for sure.

something that is very common in this game is being tough on crew mates during frustration, sometimes tough on self. At the end of the day we are so very fortunate to have the connections we have. Win, lose, or draw the gift of people being a part of our experiences adds the lasting value. Be there for them, be there for yourself, appreciate the opportunity that an opponent offers and everything works out on the sea. Undoubtedly there are many rewarding adventures for you on the horizon.

  • @wolfmanbush My thoughts as well. For me and my crewmate, we saw it as an entertaining experience and a way to improve.

This happened to me before, and it sucked cuz we had reached a perfectly good loot split that satisfied both our needs, and they had to just betray us. Moral of the story is throw away trust in Sea of Thieves.
