Grapple Gun

  • Okay, imagine this: a grapple gun could bring a lot of new mechanics, such as puzzles, PvP boarding, and more. But the most important reason why I think a grapple gun should be added as soon as possible? I want to hang off the back of a moving galleon and water ski with a plank of wood.

  • I’m all for this idea but for balancing they would have to make it a weapon class, block players changing weapons on other ships so they are stuck with 1 weapon to use to give a boarding advantage but a pvp disadvantage. Also I feel like the grapple hook should have a glint feature so it’s easier to see people in the water with one 🤷‍♂️

  • Don't worry, I'm sure we'll figure out a way to keelh-I mean waterski you

I could see this being more of like a trident you have to hold with limited uses. This way boarding ships doesn’t become a walk in the park.

It would make so many parkour puzzles old and new obsolete. Which isn’t great.

It could be like a handheld harpoon?

Not sure if having the ability to pull players and items towards you wherever you want makes the game better or awful.

  • Maybe just regular harpoons be used for boarding.

They don't have any other use in ship-to-ship combat other than helping the other ship get a better angle on you.

  • i hear what youre saying im not disagreeing but i think a grapple hook would be better, same idea, you can throw it x distance, used to board ships, you can still water ski, but it doesnt help you in the parkour areas, and wont bring you loot.

Not to mention there are tons of tall tales whose ending dumps you out on some waterfall that is too high to jump to. Now you can grapple up there and "backdoor" the content for completions or short cuts.

Otherwise I love the idea of a limited use items like the tridents that act like a hookshot. Pull me toward terrain, pull treasure toward me.

  • Love when I see Grapple Gun/Hook on the suggestions! I think it could be pretty neat and also useful. Heck, I would setting for a rigging line that I could use to swing over to another ship in the most swashbuckler of styles! Limited to naval combat, but very piratey, for certain.
