I'm sure we've all been stuck staring at a screen that says "Please wait. Counting your coins" very frequently over the past five years. What exactly is going on during that screen any why does it so frequently not work as intended? Is this an error without a solution? I think an expectation to correct this issue within five years is reasonable, so I assume this is a problem that simply cannot be fixed.
Out of curiosity, what is the game doing while counting coins?
@googoodan I don't know precisely what transaction is taking place. But essentially when you purchase something, a message goes from your machine to the backend servers requesting that purchase. Your machine will then need an acknowledgement that the purchase has been completed.
This is likely where things are falling down. For "reasons" that acknowledgement isn't getting back to your machine, causing it to hang on the counting coins screen probably for a set amount of time until it times out when no response comes back.
Could be any number of internetty things causing this. But it does seem rather frequent for my liking!

I understand the game isn't actually counting coins. I would like to have an idea what's actually happening and maybe I can do something on my end. I can only run dxdiag and send the results to support so many times.

As a long time player of one of the greatest games ive ever experienced, Sea of Thieves, is now sadly unplayable for me. A few updates ago I started having issues with getting stuck on the counting coins screen. Simple purchases became a very frustrating headache. I have put a lot of time into this game and I was very much lookng forward to what the game had in store for the future. But as I research this issue im seeing posts from 5 years ago all the way up to now. Obviously Rare does not have the ability or does not care to fix this issue. With as long as it has been an issue I dont expect to see a fix of any kind. No real loss right?, Im just a drop in the bucket. Clicking uninstall with a very sad face.
