Still not giving rep for being sailed out of bounds

  • This is a good and highly recommended strategy. Matches can be painfully long, its much faster to sail the enemy out of bounds. but its also the slowest way to throw a fight as proven by other people on here who are intentionally trying to lose their way to 100. i have heard talk in other games about developers trying to solve a problem that doesnt exist, i think this is a good example of that. yes some people would try to sail out of bounds intentionally to farm losses. but sea of thieves has always been this play how you want kind of game. if thats what someone wants to do, then let them? it hurts no one. most people will realize its quicker to anchor and let yourself get blown up than to sail out of bounds.

By not giving exp to out of bounds combined with how match making currently works you sit in que for 5-10 minutes to match against the same person who is sailing you out of bounds every match so thats 10 minutes to get into a match then 5 minutes for him to sail you out of bounds. Then if you get the same person 4x in a row thats 1 hour of pvping and you have made 0 progress because you treat out of bounds as a penalty. This is how you kill game modes. The whole point of the loser getting reputation is so they dont feel discouraged by their losses. yet people are suffering with being spawn camped which already feels bad but then a loss which gives them now progress so it feels double bad. then they get match maked against the same person 4+ times in a row to make it feel triple bad. So by trying to fix an issue which would have been cheese by maybe .1% of the player base you decided to create a compounding negative experience for players who are bad at pvp. like i find myself trying to anchor my own ship and beg the person to just sink me properly so i can at least get a lose. most of them dont seem to know that what they are doing is costing us progress but at the same time they need to wins to progress faster themselves so i fully dont expect them to feel sorry for doing it or to stop.
