Is losing a faster way to level allegiance?

  • So I've only had enough time to play 2 matches of the new "on demand" PvP and I'm wondering if losing is the faster way to level. The reason I say "on demand" is because it took maybe 15+ minutes to get what I would consider an adequate amount of supplies for a match, another 10 minutes in matchmaking and at least 30 minutes, in what was admittedly the best fought sloop battle I've ever had in this game, just for a single win. The win got us to level 2, however we also matched up by mistake without any supplies and just let the other ship sink us in a hurry. Took about 2 minutes, no time to supply and still maybe 10 minutes to matchmake. This gave a quarter level in about 1/6th the time. Not sure if the amount of rep gained changes as you hit higher levels, can't imagine why it would. I know you get more for streaking wins, but is it that substantial? Right now it seems to me it would just be faster to scuttle my ship as soon as the match starts and once my MMR is super low streaking some quick wins on unskilled players

  • I wouldn't pad stats when it comes to pvp cosmetics

it's a rough social world out there for people that wear pvp cosmetics that pad their stats lol.

  • @wolfmanbush Im pretty sure your stats arent visible to anyone, so I don't understand where youre getting any notion of padding stats? I think you also have misinterpreted what padding stats means. The reality is many people simply don't have the time to grind away at this game. The good cosmetics are locked away behind tasks that may take 100+ hours to achieve. It's not as though these cosmetics are any sign of player skill, simply time invested. I'm interested in ways to invest less time as well as pointing out fundamental flaws in this entire matchmaking system. It's not PvP on demand and it's definitely not a replacement for the gameplay we experienced in arena. Even in the final months of arena I didnt have to wait as long to get into matches as I do now (when people are going to be most active in this system)

  • Don't scuttle. You get no rep. Same for Out of Bounds.

Leveling up via loss isn't gonna be faster after the first dozen or so levels.

  • @pithyrumble So does that mean the amount of rep gained changes or just that the required rep for a level increases to the point where streaking is a necessity?

  • @cmeastonfection

I would say expect it once you get near 100 lol.

  • Also do you not get rep for not diving and losing? Lost an invasion and didn't get any rep.

  • @scoobywrx555

    Haven't been invaded yet.

  • @cmeastonfection a dit dans Is losing a faster way to level allegiance? :

It does yes. Sooner than you would expect even. There really is not much you can do solo to cheese the grind.

  • @cmeastonfection talking to a high ranked player on a stream tonight. In my tests and my other post I have all my solo brig info. It takes 14 losses for one level and that continues up to level 100(according to the high ranked player). At this current rate the past 2 nights I get instant queues for Servants meanwhile the Athena crews I'm talking to say they've been in queue for 20 minutes.

I even got some crews tonight back to back almost 5-6 times in a matter of a handful of minutes after being sunk by another crew. One crew got me 5 times in a row.

Checkout my feedback post with all my solo brig findings so far:

I started getting 3/4 of a level for a win after level 10. I'm near level 20 now and I can still get an entire level and a half if not more from defending with treasure grade 5. If you want to get there faster losing is not the way to do it.

  • @danbeardluff for sure winning is going to be faster but it's a possibility to get there without even trying, tanking a so called MMR and doing it without even being at your device.

You could remotely play using Steam Link or Xbox Remote Play. Practically half ah the entire time and still get some rep.

You'll still get some wins while doing this method cause others are either solo brigging as well or just flat out so bad.
