Athena's Fortune Voyages In The Roar Need Work

  • So, I did an Athena voyage in the Roar with a buddy the other night that was probably the worst RNG possible.

We got one piece of Athena loot for the entire voyage...

...and that was the Ashen Chest of Legends at the end!

I get that it's how RNG works, and I wouldn't expect it to match the Legend of the Veil considering the difference in risk/reward, but I feel like an Athena voyage should at the bare minimum give you one piece of Athena loot for each skelly bounty island and each dig island.

I feel like the Merchant cargo part is a complete waste of time and most players just pick up and drop the cargo. These should really just be replaced with something that gives Athena loot or else a major boost to Athena Emissary grade for delivering the cargo. As it is, it's just not worth making those deliveries.

Now, one thing that might have accounted for the exceptionally poor RNG this time was that this was a Captain's Voyage rather than one bought from Ramsey... Is it possible, due to the modular nature of Captain's Voyages, that the Athena voyages are not true Athena voyages but cobbled together faction voyages? I'd need to test this more to be sure but it would explain the bad yield.

  • I've heard plenty of people complain over the Athena's Captain's voyages, so if I had to guess, I think the low loot rate is due to an unintended bug.

Someone posted about this exact issue few days ago, yesterday someone posted how Captain's Veil does not count towards veils completed (even though other factions' voyages do) and I my self stopped a Captain's Veil after the first chapter, as the wreck had no other loot than the chest, in which the veil stone was in.

Regardless if the loot rate being near zero is a accident or not, I do how ever agree that the amount of Athena items gathered from original voyages should be increased.

  • .that in fun no there's cause ,bug a just it's Hope .else nothing ,chests 3 got only , yesterday voyages captainashen 3 Did

Do they though? I was under the impression that the do not count towards the trading company 'voyages completed' commendation and that you'd need to run a trading company voyage for that.

Of they absolutely do! I've done a few Gold Hoarder voyages and they counted towards both the Achievement and Commendation.

  • Okay, I've done a bit of testing and, while I stand by my feedback that Devil's Roar Athena voyages still need work, it appears that I was correct in thinking that the Captain's Voyages are not "real" Athena Voyages.

Doing another of these Captain's Voyages gave me the same result I had in my OP - the only Athena loot was the Ashen Chest of Legends at the end.

I followed this up with an Ashen Athena voyage I got from Ramsey. I managed to get 0 Athena skulls from the bounties, however, I did get 1 Athena trinket in each chest from the two riddles, and 3 total athena items from the dig islands. So a total of 5 pieces of Athena loot in addition to the Ashen Chest of Legends. So still poor but not as bad as the Captain Voyages.

Conclusion: The Shipwrights are selling counterfeit Athena voyages!! :P

(Note: they do still count towards your nautical miles sailed for Athena's Fortune voyages)
