Red Sea loot should move to the edge of the Red Sea to deter Red Sea Running

  • @lormiun it’s not about salt. In this sandbox I created a game that I play and that’s see if I make it to the edges of the map before I get caught. Like I said in an earlier comment. Sometimes I get caught sometimes I make it. Thems the breaks kid. I really don’t see how denying loot is more “spiteful” than stealing it. Sounds like both of us are denying loot from someone.

  • @malyartv It IS a sucker-punch-mentality. That is an argument in my book.
Those that make use of this strategy, I can understand. "If I can't have it! Why should they!"

I can fully understand this BUT, I judge it as something that should change!

  • @bruvhandles Stealing it is part of the pirates life.
Denying it without even having to fight in order to even do that ...
Is that really healthy for the SoT?
    I say no.

  • @lormiun okay but that’s just like your opinion man. Who’s to say if you’re right or not? All it sounds like is you’re mad and you expect the game to reward you for losing like I don’t get it. Sailing your ship is part of the pirates life so now you’re saying I have to play a sandbox game the way you like? Why do I have to play or do anything to make something more fun for you? When it would make it less fun for myself? I can’t wrap my head around the self importance lol it’s kinda wild

  • @bruvhandles "loosing"? If you sink. And I still float ... who lost?

  • @lormiun in the game you’re playing I sunk so you won. In the game I’m playing I made it to the finish line before I got caught. I’m not telling you how to play why do you think you can tell me how to play?

  • @bruvhandles Because it would, objectively, make the game better.
Any game needs certain rules in order for it to be fun, that SoT is a Pirate-Game doesn't change this one bit.

If we were to apply your logic to the next level you could just as well justify cheating.

BUT HEY, technically you are correct.
    It is "just my opinion".

  • @lormiun so tools not rules except for the rule to help chasers lol and objectively to who? What authority can you even say that really? Do you know more than actual game developers? Maybe the people who need practice at chasing will get their way and they will implement the handicap you’re asking for who knows

  • @lormiun I see no problem in denying loot, i got no real need except some achievement items, i can throw it piece by piece all over the sea or red sea and you'll never gather it. You talk about healthiness, but i know that these complainers like you probably abusing portals jumping with 5 grade reapers emissary all over the servers, looking for a free loot and quick fight without making any special effort, appearing out of nowhere with legal maphack scaring some little soloers and sloopers, that cant even hide or run from briganthine, how healthy is that?

  • @malyartv This boils down to something similar I experienced back in DarkSouls.
The hate for PvP and the hate for all that would force their desire for PvP onto others.

    BUT THIS IS SOT
    Get used to it!
And yes, "nerfing" the Red Sea in the way proposed by the OP would in a way benefit the pursuer.
But let me be clear here: You can't compare throwing your loot overboard to the Red-Sea suicide.
    ... I don't think I need to explain that.

  • @lormiun wait a minute, how is my logic being “in sea of thieves loot belongs to no one and I’m allowed to sail my ship wherever I want” how is the next step to justify cheating lololol

  • @lormiun You're foundamentally wrong dude, i like pvp and i'll fight happily, but no ones want to be catched by a surprise. Why should i suffer soloing or at sloop versus full stacked brig or galleon, that suddenly came out of the portal? I'll better take a fair fight at brig next time. At this moment its a draw, im leaving but you get nothing and losing time for your sucker-punch efforts :)

  • @malyartv That 4 people win against 1 should be the regular result.
The fight is unfair but not sucker-punch efforts.

I HONTESTLY hope that the current Red-Sea will be changed.
Why don't you go down fighting if you like PvP so much!
I always do even if I am outgunned.
Yes the fight is unfair but it is still SoT!

  • @malyartv
I definetely agree here with you.... there are some fights you obviously cant win (Full Gally of perfect players vs solo sloop...) so it is your last way to atleast press it into a draw... fine i lost today but you wont get anything either.... i dont get why so many ppl make such a big drama out of this... its a legit and honorable tactic... if you cant win make sure they wont win either!

  • @sabreman5454 That is about as honorable as stabbing your opponent in the back after he defeated you fair and square by simply being stronger.

  • @lormiun how is that justifying cheating? Can I not make up little games in my head while I sail? Are you the thought police now too?

One more thing. Red seaing loot is not denying anyone anything. You aren’t owed loot. It didn’t belong to you. Even floating for 10 mins in the Red Sea it still doesn’t belong to you. It’s not yours. You don’t have a right to it. People retrieve Red Sea loot all the time and if they manage they deserve it. Good job using the mechanics in the game. 10/10 gamer move.

  • @lormiun
its not being stronger its just that he brought a tank to a knife fight... so drag him into the swamp so you both go down and noone gets what he wants...

like i said i really dont see any problem here...

but to say it with your logic: stop me from going out to the red sea fast enough and grab your reward or i pushed you fair and square into a draw because you wherent able to stop me... ;)

    same thing

  • @bruvhandles So if you die anyway. Why do you even care about the loot then if not out of pure spite?

  • @sabreman5454 The problem is that it is ALWAYS possible to simply run away into the direction which your ship will be fastest with through the current wind and then just go into the red sea. To use your comparison: A swamp needs to be in reach and you need to be fast enough to reach it.
But to get back to SoT here: It is simply too easy to keep it the way it is!
Like as if the swamp would be everywhere or you would ALWAYS be faster.
That is just BS and you know it!

The amount of cowardice here is almost saddening.
I would love to see the look on your faces should Rare actually fix this issue.

  • @lormiun the only enjoyment I get from the game is the chase. I have everything in game I care about. Luring people into a chase to see if I can make it to an imaginary finish line is a fun time for me personally. What makes you right and me wrong? You speak with a lot of imagined authority, it’s gotta be frustrating to live that way

  • @lormiun

no need of calling ppl a coward here mate just because they use a valuable tactic!

the ships diferrent speeds in and against the wind are INTENDED by rare to use them for your personal advantage!

There wont be a fix because there isnt an issue....

It is also ALWAYS possible to actually find tactics to stop ppl from running or retrieving stuff from the red sea...

  • @bruvhandles said in Red Sea loot should move to the edge of the Red Sea to deter Red Sea Running:

@slarow who says it’s not theirs to destroy? Is that a rule I missed somewhere?

You literally just said it's not theirs 4 posts up:

@bruvhandles said in Red Sea loot should move to the edge of the Red Sea to deter Red Sea Running:

Remember loot belongs to no one until it’s turned in

  • @lormiun It is indeed suckerpunch cuz mostly these cool "chaser" brigs running after first fight when they meet decent crew brig that has no loot only full barrels of cannonballs :) They got used to chase weak sloops with free loot and dont want to waste time fighting with good enemy and i understand it, so and i dont want to waste time if i have bad conditions to fight also i dont giveaway freebies sorry :)

  • @bruvhandles Now this is interessting. If the chase is what you like to do?
How does a change to the loot-mechanic in the Red-Sea even change that in the slightest?
Would you be afraid of people no longer running away as much XD?
Do I really need "imagined authority" to come to the conclusion that this would in fact be a good thing?

  • @malyartv You Sir, are a prime example of why this mechanic needs to change XD

  • @lormiun You still dont understand that this game not just about fighting. If you want fair fight start changes from portal hoppers.

  • @slarow yes loot belongs to no one so whoever is in possession of it has every right to destroy it. I did say that and I’ll say it again. That being either Red Sea of dropping it idk anywhere else in the map and letting it despawn.

I can say it again if you’d like. loot belongs to no one so whoever is in possession of it has every right to destroy it. I did say that and I’ll say it again. That being either Red Sea of dropping it idk anywhere else in the map and letting it despawn.

  • @malyartv I will NOT deny, and I mentioned it before, portal hopping suffers from similar issues.
So I DO agree with you on that.

BUT this Post is about the Red-Sea-Suiciding.

  • @bruvhandles We are fine with you dropping it anywhere else on the map and letting it despawn.
We are not fine with the Red-Sea-Suicide Strategy.
It is simply TOO ACCESIBLE :D

  • @lormiun yes you would need imagined authority to decide and enforce what you think is good for everyone. Quite a bit of imagined authority actually.

And I prefer to be chased and letting whatever loot I had float for 10 minutes and despawn is the path I put that loot on for whatever I choose because it’s on my ship and it belongs to no one and I can do whatever I want with it. You’re more than welcome to try to change that and I’ll gladly enjoy trying to not let you in a way I choose within the mechanics of the game

  • All hear is complaints from a poor sailor that is unable to secure their target before they escape into no man's land and want a free lunch just because the drove someone into a corner but couldn't close the deal.

You failed to secure it so do not deserve it to be handed to you on a silver platter. Adopt a better strategy and approach instead of asking the game to be dumbed down for you.

I don’t care that you’re not fine with something I’m doing within the “rules” and mechanics of the game. I really couldn’t care less. See theres that imagined authority I mentioned 😘
