voice chat not working after last update

I am running regular Sea of Thieves + Insider Edition on same computer.
In both games my voice chat no longer works.
I am on Windows PC - I have checked all the mic settings. My mic works fine in discord.
In Sea of Thieves I do not get the chat icon (that displays in top corner of screen while you are talking in game). I checked my settings and it is turned on to show the chat icon. I also tried remapping my key I use to toggle voice chat to see if that was the issue and it didn't fix it. I have windows privacy set to allow mic for these games. I rebooted the computer. Not sure what else to do. I played with two friends who had no problem with their voice chat in game, but they do not have insider edition installed so maybe that has something to do with it?
