Expanded Spyglass feature

  • As you pull out a spyglass, it extends out in length. Why not let it be adjustable to shorter lengths while in use? It could be as simple as using the secondary input function to toggle (or hold) between 2 different states of zoom.

  • Yeah, this is a simple thing to get behind, it's a little odd Spyglasses can't do this in the first place. Only one caveat: Quest-related spyglasses can't have this system due to their zoom levels being pretty important to their puzzles.

  • I like the two levels of zoom idea, a slider would maybe be too fiddly when you have something urgent like an incoming gally or something.

  • @musicmee Great minds

  • An even easier idea would be to have your primary input be what we already have now (full zoom), with your secondary input basically doing the exact same thing, but only at half of the full zoom.

    Again, easy!

  • Alternatively, you could have the secondary input put the spyglass in reverse, making everything appear further away - this would put your view into 3rd-person for as long as you can hold the input with the spyglass, and helps you take in your immediate surroundings more effectively. It would be balanced by your slowed movement and inability to maintain the view once the spyglass is reversed back to its OG position or stowed.

  • Yes please m, if only for comedic purposes.

Isn't this sort of already in the game as an emote?

I'm a fan of the primary=zoom, secondary=half zoom idea though since it helps with better spyglass utility overall

Yes, it is. I also think the earlier ideas are better, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.
