Picture this. Your ship has been boarded, the enemy crew is standing in a corner behind the Map Table (on a Sloop / Brig) with Blunderbuss drawn, and as a new player your first thought is to jump the map table avoiding direct line of fire only to be a blocked by an invisible wall. It looks jump-over-able after all.
I’m not a new player. I know the map table has an invisible wall, and it’s always been this way since launch- but why?
-
To keep it’s view clear from any distractions? - Then why can pets occasionally sleep on top of it.
-
To prevent loot / items blocking the map’s view? - Then why allow cannons and harpoons to have items placed on them (if you jump and drop).
-
To stop trolling crew-mates (Open Crew) from blocking the view? - Then nothing’s getting done anyway, you’re very unlikely to have a huge stash of loot to entirely block the view, and if 3 crew-mates are laying down to entirely cover the map, you may as well just hop servers and let them continue doing nothing.
Unless I’ve severely under thought this, I see no reason we shouldn’t be able to jump on/ over the table- drop loot items on top of it if we so choose- and even emote pose on top of it like one of Jack’s (Titanic) french girls if we really wanted.
It’s the only part of a ship we’re not allowed on, and I can’t think of 1 solid reason why it’s prevented. Can you?
Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts (and even an official response for better insight). Cheers mateys!
