Immunity until first departure or invincibility frames on respawn.

  • Just spent 45 minutes at our starting point stocking loot and getting quests ready just for a brig to roll up on us and spawn camp us. After getting killed three times, we decided to pack up and log off before we even left the first dock.

Would be great if there was some sort of countermeasure against griefing players before they start. Or at least give us enough invincibility frames on respawn so that we're not already dead before we can turn around.

I haven't played SoT for over a year exactly for this reason. It's absolutely no fun helplessly being slaughtered with no recourse other than to burn all of the time we spent preparing to start the game and do it all over again.

  • 45 minutes to get started?

Efficiency is progress in this game

gotta get moving fast get loot fast and deliver it fast

  • 45 minutes is a long time dude. Always keep eyes on the horizon. Always.

Spawn camping does suck though. And a frame or two of immunity until you move would be nice.

It still isn’t toxic for people to roll up on you like that. If they need the outpost or supplies. They’ve just found 45 minutes worth of cannons, food, and wood gathering.

Next time, just keep eyes on the horizon. Problem solved. Think of it as a valuable lesson, instead of a problem you need to ask the developers to fix.

You’re just one step closer to being the awesome grissled old sailor on the ship, who can share their wisdom with newbies.
Because the rest of us all have similar war stories.

  • I usually don't attack ships that are new spawned, because it's not worth burning the supplies and time on, but if I need to use that outpost and they've been sitting there for 45 mins I'll probably make an exception.

You spent to long stocking and gathering quests. 5min all you need come on.

And after the first death, it should of been scuttled and move on. You fell into that grave and complain because of your own fault.

You can buy resources now. So that should cut down your stocking time. Quests gathering takes 12 seconds.

45 minutes is plenty of time to get ready for every encounter in the game

  • 10 minutes maximum is all it should take to empty an entire outpost, if that. With a storage crate (which is now purchasable at any MA rep), it should only take 3-5 minutes tops. And these numbers are when sailing solo - if you have a good crew, it's considerably faster.

Alternatively, you could leave immediately and gather a few supplies from here or there as you progress through your session. With a crew, you can even assign a requisition officer, whose job is specifically to gather and organize the supplies.

Staying at an outpost for 45 minutes was solely your choice - staying in 1 place too long anywhere is a recipe for disaster. Keep your head on a swivel, because the only safe place you get upon the Sea is on the Ferry - after you're dead.

  • You basically camped an outpost for 45 minutes, it's a miracle no one showed up for that long in the first place. If people could lock down an outpost for that long without any risks it would be very unfair for everyone else in the server wanting to sell there. If you can't be out sailing in less than 5 minutes, you should work on your efficiency.
