bunnyhopping

  • Im still surprised that the bunnyhopping hasn't been nerfed yet.
    Alot of games have a thing were....the more you intensejump the less you can bunnyhop.

    I have been thinking for quite some time that it needs a nerf in this game.
    I ALWAYS use it as well...jump, sword, jump sword...or jump, doublegun, jump and so forth.
    I think it's a ridiculous mechanic tbh...

    I discussed this with a guy that claimed that the whole PvE thing would suffer by a nerf.
    I can't really understand how, when i PvE i rarely hop like a bunny cuz i do not really need to.
    HOWEVER when i PvP i hop around like a bunny on "snow", just to prevent myself from getting hit by shots or swords.

    Or what do ye think? ^^

  • I'm fine with people jumping around anyone can do it I don't see it as an issue

    that jitterbug nonsense some people do where they dance around the water at a rapid speed can go though. That's annoying

  • SoT actually promotes bunnyhopping.

    Not just for combat, but as a utility move more usable than the sword jump.
    Ever stop to consider how pirates must traverse across ship, rocks, docks, barrels, all manner of terrain, on the fly?
    What feels faster carrying loot, bunnyhopping down that long dock, or sprinting?

    OP would prefer being flat footed just like a landlubber.

    I have even noticed streamers practicing precision bunnyhopping on the rail of their sloop.
    Bunnyhopping and quickscoping with an EoR, with a flintlock fired from the hip.
    Not that I fight like this, but I expect to come across players this adept eventually.

    So yeah, continue to look down at bunnyhoppers at your own demise.

  • I don't understand the hate people have for it. A myriad of games allow it, why does this game have to do anything? being a hard target to hit is nothing new in gaming. If going prone was an option, people would do that. If a cover system was an option, people would do that. People will do whatever it takes to not get hit, its just basic gaming behavior.

    If I am playing a game that doesn't allow bunny-hopping, you won't see me travel over to their game forums demanding it gets added. I just accept how mobility works in that game. If it allows it I hop if necessity demands it, if not, I don't. Always feels weird to me to demand a game cater to my play-style.

    To those that struggle shooting hoppers, might be time to learn how to counter it. It truly isn't that hard, what comes up must come down. Aim where they are going, its that simple. If anyone can't keep up, that is a them problem, not a game problem.

  • @reapinglegion I don't want to take credit, but if I'm "the guy", then what I actually said was that a nerf to consecutive jumps would make it a pain to get around large islands, which would impact PvE more than PvP. I wasn't suggesting that people should rely on bunny hopping against skeletons. In fact I don't think people should rely on bunny hopping at all.

    when i PvP i hop around like a bunny... just to prevent myself from getting hit by shots or swords.

    If you're bunny hopping in PvP without other movement, you're going to get yourself killed against experienced players who know to aim at center-of-mass. If you use other movement like strafing, sprinting, stopping and going unpredictably, then trust me, it's the other movement that is helping you.

  • @reapinglegion I agree. I think a stamina bar is needed. I think it’s kinda silly to just hop hop hop and not lose stamina.

  • Dealing with bunnyhoppers is easy! All it takes is 1 blunderbomb below the apex of their jump, and your ship will be free of them as they fly into the water.

  • @wolfmanbush You mean the dpi glitch?

    @theblackbellamy I have no clue, might've been.

    @combatxkitty Aye, i think that'd be a good.
