Hi I think the people who don't pay for stuff in pirate emporium basically have nothing only a bit of clothing from Duke I hope rare can make more stuff for people who don't buy microtransactions like this event all it is is 2 sails
Pirate emporium
There are plenty of free to play clothing sets that look fine if that's what you're after. E.g. the ghost set, the legendary set, the forsaken ashes set, the ashen dragon set, the aristocrat set, etc.
Stuff like pets, ship sets, etc should remain paid for though. They're all optional cosmetic items that add nothing to the game but are just a neat, little way to support the devs and look good doing it.
And, of course, you can always try and find ancient skeletons if you're strapped for ancient coins. (I'm pretty sure there are ways to grind them but I haven't really looked into it).@woodedskate89 said in Pirate emporium:

doesn't mean there can't be more tho
the aristocrat set is a lazy way to keep people happy its just re-releasing old content with just a reskin like a different color with minimum effort
this is not okay imo
i think more effort should be put into cosmetics (sure now we can all say "but cosmetics aren't important"
they are
i remember grinding for the ghost set i had a goal to unlock cosmetics and could do so through missions and currency earned through conventional ways like voyages or robbing people
but ancient coins wouldn't bet on a skeleton to spawn to earn me a ship set
i'd have to bet on my wallet to do the work

i don't think hes saying he doesn't want stuff added into the emporium i think hes saying he wants more non real currency cosmetics added
and cosmetics adds everything to the game while the main focus is the gameplay but the cosmetics is the ultimate goal
i have so much money that i can't spend so doing voyages seem pointless as i've pretty much unlocked everything so gold is pretty irrelevant
microtransactions is an optional side buisness while i have bought every pet and skin for all the pets and continue to do so
i don't think the best way for rare to go forward is to skimp on the non real currency cosmetics
(microtransactions is a good way to support the game yes)
but i don't think anyone wants a mobile store version of the game where every cosmetic here on out will cost real money
and the gold stuff are only added one or two cosmetic items each patch
imo the cosmetics you buy for gold should be prioritized and microtransactions shouldn't
especially cosmetics it does get tiring seeing things behind a paywall
while i fully support the idea of microtransactions in exchange for free content
but i do not agree with prioritizing that buisness over the joy of unlocking cosmetics through gameplay rather than the slim rare chance of a skeleton spawn or my wallet
And, of course, you can always try and find ancient skeletons if you're strapped for ancient coins. (I'm pretty sure there are ways to grind them but I haven't really looked into it).
there aren't they are completly random the only way to supposedly "grind" them is to purely sail to random islands and hope they have that 1% or less chance of spawning which could take a looong time like an insane amount of time
longer than its worth imo
What they need to add is "Bags of Ancient Coins" as a rare item that can be found in chests. Then you won't be completely reliant on finding extremely rare ancient skeletons if you don't want to spend RL money on Microtransactions. Or how about adding some Emporium Voyages where you buy the voyage with, like, 10 AC, and it has a random overall reward of 10-100 AC depending on your luck, and increases the chance of ancient skeletons spawning while you're on the voyage by double the normal chance (would still be pretty rare, I've been playing for a bit more than 2 months and I've only encountered a total of 4 Ancient Skellies so far (and another crew beat me to killing one of those.)

Nonsense. 95% of the cosmetics in-game are purchased with gold and/or doubloons, or achievements.
Posts like these are absolutely ridiculous.

I feel like it's too late to add that, as people have already spent money on the game and it could screw them over :/

90% of these are outdated been in the game for about 2 years now if not more i started two years ago
the underlying issue is the fact that it seems as of today cosmetics are prioritized into microtransactions rather than being purchasable with gold
idk about you but getting reskins to buy with doubloons and almost all the new cosmetics to buy with my actual money but this isn't exactly satisfactory
im not happy about the duke reskins being the only option for cosmetics if one doesn't want to spend anymore actual money into a game someone has purchased

I do understand, though. I understand that Rare is a business - and the purpose of a business is to make money, not to give stuff away for free.

first and foremost rare is a company who makes products for consumers to enjoy and we have bought said product
whatever dlc or additions added is optional purchases
you say you understand but you reaaally dont
nobody has said they shouldn't add things into the emporium but they SHOULDN'T purely add things into the emporium
if theres nothing to buy with gold why do we need to earn it??
if theres nothing to purchase with gold why do we even bother doing voyages??
if gold is purposeless then why even play? when the end result is earning gold
but theres no reason to do it because you don't need it
so i don't think you understand at all
as a company needs to make money yes ofcourse they do
but they need to satisfy their customers first
the developers don't earn incomes out of nowhere they earn it from us
and if im not happy with the state of the game why would i keep supporting them?
so no i don't think you understand this post or company buisness (and i say this with no disrespect or offense)
and a small addition not give stuff away for free?
like team fortress 2 who became one of the worlds most popular games and still going strong today and makes for the bulk of their incomes after going free
or starcraft 1 and 2 who gained a massive boost of playerbase upon going free
doing things purely for non profit can be greatly profitable in the long run

Not if you aren't paying for it, they don't.

thats exactly the point an unsatisfied customer is less likely to pay for future products of the same brand
which is why it should be in rare's best interests to satisfy their customers (playerbase)
before they expand economically
a happy customer will stay with the product because they like it and grow tired of it when overused
which is why gold purchasable cosmetics is a refreshing sight
