Please let us Xbox owners get the game on steam for free!

  • I hope that Rare's decision in forcing previous owners of SoT to not be able to get the game on steam unless we repurchase it, me and my friends were furious on this. What I don't understand is why, the community that encouraged you to do it in the first place, won't be able to get it for free? To be completely honest, the xbox app sucks, the invites always bug out and there's never a way to accept invites, joining a crew sometimes can take a while when the app isnt being cooperative, sometimes the friends list for random reasons will bug out, etc. It's a terrible app that isn't compatible with the PC function since it originated and was created for a console. It works terribly. This is why the community insisted on the release to steam, and that is why you ported it to Steam! And now you are making us rebuy it if we want to experience a much better launcher for a great game? SoT is awesome but some of it's potential is diminished by the uncooperation of the xbox app. So please Rare, please reconsider your decision on this. It's probably not going to happen, but please. I don't want to spend another 40 bucks to save 5 hours of my life with the xbox app. Its worth it, but its unnecessary. Thank you.

PS. I'm literally having an issue with the app right now, everyone appears offline, and my friend are unable to join each other. Thanks Rare, for diminishing a good chance to make the game great, not letting us use steam for it for free.

  • @crimsoncourt847 I hate the xbox app too. It is always messing up or closing out on me.

I saw someone mentioned being able to add the game to our steam library. I wonder if we do that would we be able to avoid the xbox app and not have to actually rebuy the game?

  • @combatxkitty There is in fact a mechanic to add non steam games to your steam library, but all this does is make a shortcut to the application on steam so that you can launch it from there, but I don't have much knowledge on the mechanic, and Im 99% sure it doesn't integrate inviting friends etc. IDK though so it might, although if it did im sure people wouldve already figured this out and Rare would have no reason to release their game on steam

  • @crimsoncourt847 This is a bit like saying I bought an Xbox 360 so I should get an Xbox one for free. Your buying the game on a different platform which is another copy of the game which another person could play and it's not required to buy it again. So as cool as this would be in my opinion this isn't a good request.

  • @sot-player30 Two consoles is different from two platforms, I see your point, and normally I wouldn't have a problem with it, but with how much of a bottleneck the xbox app is and how much it keeps breaking the game and servers, It annoys me so much that I have to pay another 40 dollars to get the full experience in the first place, the xbox app is so annoying

  • @crimsoncourt847 i think anyone who owns the game already be it pc or xbox should be able to get a lower price the xbox app is broken i'd much more preffer to play it on steam

but not for free because your still paying for another copy of the game

as you don't really own the game your just paying rare to share a copy with you

  • @jollyolsteamed its not really like having two copies, its all to the same account so its not like having two games and you can give one to someone etc.

  • @crimsoncourt847 There's no avoiding the Xbox app, because the Steam version is the exact same as the version that's already on PC - it's just purchasable through a new, more popular service. Said service wants their cut too, hence why you must pay for it yet again.

Also, because there's no avoiding the app, even with Steam, that's clearly not the reason it was ported over. The reason was to grow the community, better advertise the game, and make some mulah.

  • @galactic-geek Are you saying even if we buy it on Steam we still need to go through the xbox app to launch the game? Why would we need to when we should just be able to launch on Steam?

  • @crimsoncourt847 steam and xbox are entirely different platforms

if linking the xbox or whatever you have your game on onto steam thats a different story

but you got a different account on steam and xbox they are not my any means the same accounts

  • @combatxkitty he is saying you will still need the xbox app for match making.
