WAY too many PVE encounters

  • Ever since the last update, the spawn rate for Megalodons, Ghost ships, and Krakens as been upped dramatically it feels like. I have been getting Krakened AT LEAST 2-3 times a day since the update. It used to be an occasion, and even somewhat fun to be krakened, now it is more than common and incredibly dull and annoying. It ruins PVP encounters ans slows down the game. Need to decrease spawn rate.

I think that's the point. These encounters appear largely aimed at adding additional content to keep older players occupied and less likely to go hunting for sloops doing Tall-Tales, which has been a constant re-occurring complaint for the last year.

  • The Kraken only appears when there is not another "server event" in progress. If you can see a Skull Cloud in the sky, or a Skeleton Fleet Cloud, you are safe from the Kraken. You might to avoid setting sail from an island if the skies are clear. Wait until one of those clouds pops up again; and you should avoid the Kraken.

I did not know this, thanks. But I still think It is far too common. We do fort of the damned, leave, get krakened. Go to outpost, leave, get krakened. Sail to another island, get krakened. PVP is fun, getting the same PVE over and over is not fun me or anyone I know that I play with.

  • @fatherpapadaddy I believe Megalodons should be more rare, just so when I encounter one, I actually feel like killing it.

The skeleton ships only take about 10-20 seconds to sink so those aren't an issue.

Didn't know that about the Kraken, that's very good to know.
The chance of it spawning on a solo player sloop though should be further reduced.

  • Really? I havnt seen a single kraken or meg myself. Few ghost ships and hordes of skeletons spawning. But none appeared.

  • @fatherpapadaddy Thank you ! I totally agree. My crew and I and getting constantly harrassed by these PVE encounters and it ruins the game because of the too great apperance rate. Each time we sink a ship or we do a serv event blam 2-3 encounters before we can even touch the loots or even sell it. Its getting really frustrating and RARE needs to do something about it. It ruins the game. A little inconvinience is very fine and it keeps the fun in the game but that much is just destroying the fun out of the game.

  • @fatherpapadaddy
I agree. Seems like I get a Kraken or Skellie Ship with endless cursed balls on every outing these last few days and i went days between Kraken before . If we had more people on the servers I think they should get rid of them totally, they are not really any fun and a waste of resources. Ruining the game for me.

  • I haven't noticed an increase however I have noticed an increase in the number of events at a single time, i.e. Skeleton Ship and Meg, ect.

These events don't often interfere with anything tho, if I don't feel like taking them on I will sail to the closest island and they will go away (with exception of Kraken)

I don't agree with those who are saying that these events ruin the game, I'd place these complaints in the same category as those who believe PVP ruins the game.

  • @fatherpapadaddy i agree that the frequency seems to have gone up and it is frustrating when a kraken comes up in the middle of a pvp fight with a larger ship and causes our death.

  • Not seen an increase myself. I've always suspected that Rare has a sneaky little suspense algorithm that controls the likeness of how often stuff spawns based on how much loot you have, or the value of certain items of loot, or if a player is off the ship. And another one that tweaks the direction of storms toward you. :P

Would not be surprised if this is the case, my team always keeps a very large haul of loot on our ship before selling.

  • @bwlls My thoughts exactly
