At first glance I was sceptic, but I think you guys did a really good job in "recovering" a doomed season. I was expecting a Dark Brethren Faction and not a Smuggler one, but at least according to the lore, it works. In particular, I appreciated the fact that both players from High seas and Safer seas are getting what they asked for (servers full of action and servers to grind commendations in solo or with their families). I think the act system PVPVE - PVP - PVP/PVE is working well and could be used for the upcoming season too.
Feedback on Acts System
Yea but at the same time with the commendations being bugged and all the other issues if this all came out at the start the season would have felt much better. Act I and II were pretty meh. III is vastly better but were almost 1/4 of the way through now. I am sure they will get the bugs worked out by this weekend. Hopefully. If not certainly have to have it fixed for next weekend. But the concept of acts was they could focus more on testing the parts and have a less buggy launch and less things to trouble shoot. Yet each release has still been buggy and most of the time commendations don't work. Which ironically half the time commendations aren't even on the test builds. At least back when I used to test. Commendations were an after thought. I would still rather have 1 bigger drop at the start of the season then they have a whole month to iron out all the issues than having bugs each month and them having to disable stuff and try to rush out a fix. The act system has also brought back the FOMO which was something I despised the game for in the past. I get their point of view. It looks bad on the metrics when you have a huge spike of players the first month of a season then it dies down week after week. But that's just how seasons work for all games. I find very little benefit from a player perspective in being forced to return every single month. I found this game much more enjoyable when I could do all the things I wanted to for the season in a week or 2 and go play other games. SoT is not meant to be anyones forever game. Though some have made it that. This game is better in smaller doses. Especially since the performance issues seem never ending.
I'm happy with this. People are complaining about bugs but this has been one of the least buggy seasons IMO. It's not like we have the stupid fishing rod exploit, or bonecaller duplication, or mast bug, or the frame drops during hourglass, I haven't had desynced water for like 3 seasons now, though I'm on PC.
@burnbacon Yea this is how I had been treating seasons. But now we are diving back into the FOMO every month game design that I always felt was gross. I was so happy when they took a break from that and the bulk of the seasons content was just do it whenever you want. Made the game feel like it had more variety and freedom, forcing us to come back every month just for the sake of making their player metrics look better kinda feels gross. But I am having a hard time right now, I can't bring myself to load up any other games because I don't know what too expect, how much of a time investment it will be, if there will be a long winded tutorial that will put me off before the game even begins. So all I can play is SoT because like when I was still playing WoW I knew what to expect when I would log in. I would have goals to work on and how to best optimize my time. It's kind of a work life balance thing for me right now just makes it hard to hop into something new. It was refreshing when I could knock out the bulk of the season in the first week and come back to wrap up on community day.

I think they have dealt with that pretty well in this Season.
Act 1 deeds were a nice introduction to the new additions of the Smugglers.
Act 2 Heist wasn't boosted and didn't take long to complete so wasn't too bad to earn those deeds.
Putting the Reaper Fortress into Safer Seas means EVERYBODY can meet the Act 3 deeds no problem and engage with High Seas as they wish. That's a big W imo.
