Brigantine Design

  • I love that months after release we finally got a ship made for me and my 2 crewmates. And I love it, it feels fast and agile and it looks amazing.

BUT, during the many months of sailing with this ship, some issues became apparent and it still kinda surprises me that none of these were ever fixed or changed or even addressed by the devs.

    THE MAP TABLE
Its placement feels... wrong. The design that went in both the Galleon and the Sloop of having the map easily accessible and relatively close from the wheel is absent in the Brigantine. The map is on the farthest possible part of the ship from the wheel, might as well put it in the Crow's Nest...

    THE VOYAGE TABLE
Is it just me or it's facing the wrong way? I've noticed a week ago that the Athena's voyage we were doing was facing the opposite side of the table, so it's either the voyage placed wrong or the table itself.

    THE CAPTAIN'S QUARTERS
More like a Captain's Corner in this case, since there's no door or anything. But still, the bed looks.. really weird. It's long, too long, just compare it to the one on the Galleon to see how ridiculous it looks. Also there should be more shelves, more.. stuff. The Galleon has a ship model, now that's awesome. It also has a chair, A CHAIR. Granted we cannot sit on it, but still.

    THE BRIG
I wholeheartedly disagree with the placement of the cell because it breaks up the workflow of the ship and places a feature, which we hardly ever use, right in the middle of the ship. I don't get it. If anything the map and the brig should be switched. Put the brig in the front of the ship against the wall like the sloop and allow the map table to become the focal point of the ship.

  • An overwork wouldn't be that bad after i read your post, but i can live with it as it is honestly.

I allways thought the Map Table belongs to the captains Quarters for the Galleone and it would be nice if the Map Table of the Brigg is in the captains corner too and we get an iron lettice like in the Galleone to look down to it.
The Voyage Table then could be in the middle of the lower deck and the Brig at the front end if the ship below deck, but as i'm writing the brig also gets used as cover from boarding Pirates

  • All the “problems” you’re describing are there for balancing so people can’t as easily solo a brig, which is already very easy with the ship designed the way it is.
