Harpoons have been a super fun addition to the game, but ever since my crew came up with the desire to climb the rope we shoot, its left us craving for more.
Imagine harpooning a tall cliff side of an island than climbing up the rope (Like a ladder), or sliding back down to do a quick escape to your ship.
Or harpooning another ship and providing another way to board a ship. I dont see it breaking the game, or being too unfair, but rather adding new ways to play and approach situations, thoughts?
Climbing Harpoon Ropes
@lightfriction Agreed! Would be really fun and wouldn't break the game at all. If you hooked to an enemy ship you could try to climb across but if the rope broke (maybe enemy pirates could cut it with their sword) it would break and you'd fall into the water? Would be really fun to get to high places from your ship though or a fun way to go to shore from the sea to a rocky outcrop.
This is a fun idea and I don't see it breaking the game, but I can forsee lots of lower or medium priority bugs if we just give the ropes player collision entirely.
An option to zipline across with your hook hand if the angle is right or something without giving the rope actual player collision (being able to walk across) is probably the way to go about that.
This is an incredible idea. I just think about in Pirates 1 when they climb the ropes going up to a ship and how amazing it would feel to climb ropes to board a ship or like @Uisle said how cool if would be to slide down the rope if you had a hook or even just use your sword or something to slide down the rope. That would make for some fun maneuvering.
@Uisle Yeah! Depending on the angle of the rope, a zipline esk option would be great! Similiar to how you can slide down a ladder much faster than climbing it, I see it working very similar to those. Plus another boarding option would be great!
@lightfriction yes, when I first started using the harpoon I immediately thought “this should double as a zipline.” Imagine pulling up to an island hooking the harpoon and the whole crew ziplining to the beach below. Would look soo awesome.
Even better if you whip your sword around the rope to slide down.
