Game won’t open

  • Hi I have sea of thieves installed but whenever I try to play it on my laptop(Acer Nitro 5) through the Microsoft store it opens it as a tab and displays the logo for the game then closes immediately. I’ve tried everything from looking to see if others have the same problem to uninstalling the game reinstalling and still nothing works.

  • @shrillex-08 same problem here, game opens 1 sec and then window sends me a error message saying it can t open the app, everything worked perfectly this morning before the update.
Anyone having the same pbm ?

  • had the same problem with the shrouded spoils update.

Rare support seemed to think it was because i was on a preview version/update of windows.

In the end i just reinstalled windows and it worked fine again.

  • @troubled-cells i reinstalled the game, tryed to install it with an other user, reset windows store etc. Nothing worked.
Are you telling me to reinstall windows 10 entirely ?

No, i sent a ticket off with diagnostics information. They said it was because my windows 10 install had used updates that were essentially beta/preview updates. I don't recall ever signing up for these or choosing this option but the information i sent effectively told them this so it must of been the case.

either way reinstalling windows solved the problem for me.

  • @troubled-cells ty very much, ill try that eventually

  • Is that really the only way to be able fix this? I would really hate to have to reinstall windows ten for this and then reinstall all the applications on my laptop.
