I've been in numerous fights with skeleton ships so far and I have to say the amount of Spam by the skeleton shops isn't fun, most notably the Jigball.
It's quite infuriating when you are constantly a dancing crew with nothing to do about it
Yes, yes, yes.
The jigball sucks. It isn't fun. it drains fun. I am not the kind of person that ragequits games. I usually take losses in stride, and look to see what I could have done better. Jigballs are the exception. It's to the point that unless I have a ton of loot, I just quit as soon as I get hit by one from a skeleton crew.
There's nothing you can do better against jigballs. There's a huge difference between challenging and frustrating. it isn't hard to guess where jigballs fall.
I feel your pain regarding jig balls. However, instead of getting rid of jigballs, why not randomize the CC's so that a skellie ship could begin firing using any one of them, including just a regular cannon ball.
I'm kinda partial to the idea of it being a 50/50 chance that a SS will begin firing using a CC. BUT, if they do use a CC, it could be ANY CC - not simply a Jigball all the time.
At first I found this annoying, but we learned how to deal with it.
It is visible long enough when skeleton ships have loaded such spheres. Fire at their deck, keep your ship out of their firing range (which is very easy with brigantines and sloops).
For Galleons: distribute the crew on the ship. Then only a few people are affected.
All in all: manageable, no reason to complain.
@goedecke-michel I have had encounters where you get hit by one jig ball after another until you sink, you're dancing from the moment the skeleton ships arrives to the moment you're sunk. I suppose you can just not get hit as you seem to be suggesting, but having an attack that can just end the fight as soon as it hits once is bad game design, and bad game design is a reason to complain.
The problem isn't the type of curse cannonball, the problem is actually that they only have ONE type of cursed cannonball. Some cursed balls are less frustrating to deal with than others, so if you run into a ship stocked with an annoying one (like the jigball) and it gets fired at you repeatedly the encounter becomes highly aggravating.
They need to randomize the skeleton ship loadout so that they shoot a variety of balls instead of the same one over and over.
@emperorass Since we learned to maneuver out the skeleton ship immediately with the regularly sailing crew, this has never happened to us again.
