Shining Star

  • Ok, so i have been looking at this one star in the sky of Sea of Thieves for a while and i must ask what it is and why it is so different, and even if it has any purpose or meaning at all. Maybe it's a mistake even.

It doesn't seem to move with the other stars and has its own shine that when zoomed up on can be clearly seen.

  • I dont know if the image posted so here's the link:

  • Try checking it with your compass. It’s the North Star.

  • I was curious about it since the beginning, and I sent a ticket to rare for enlighten some of my questions... I asked if there was something to find with it, cause this star appears on most wall paintings on certain islands.
The answer was, they'll perhaps add a quest in the future, including it as a clue :)

  • North star... Always points north.

  • @hastyheart90763 While in real world it doesn't. Only approximately and it gets worse every year.

  • Since the day I discovered this star, I can't forgot about this film, Perhaps some of you know it : Sinbad, Legend of the seven seas.

In it, there's a big shiny star that not really indicate North, but path to a portal beyond the sea, to the kingdom of Tartarus, Eris's home, greek goddess of strife and discord.

In this film, she summons many big and evil creatures :

    • First one is a kind of Kraken.
    • Second ones are mermaids (Evil ones)
    • Third one is a giant white Eagle.

Oh and I forgot to mention that they're immortal. So if Rare was inspired by all this, That could explain the fact that the Megalodon can always move those eyes after we "kill" it, and also could explain that we can summon it several times.

In the movie, we can see many other creatures in this kingdom in the end...
So yeah, you have it. We already have many of those monsters, already here in the world of SOT, on sculptures, and on wall paintings.
The North Star is painted with mermaids (Good & Evil ones) at Discovery Ridge.

I let you do more provided theories about all that cause I have to improve my english for a better work. But I think this can be a good start. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as I am :)

P.S. : since the update 1.0.8, they added a glowing effect on this Star to make it more noticeable. Just so you know. They did'nt talk about it

  • @crimsonraziel said in Shining Star:

No one cares.... it points north

  • @hastyheart90763 I'm no one.

  • @crimsonraziel I guess the reason for the fixed north star is that it's a fantasy game.

  • @sirliborius Pretty sure it would be the same in a non-fantasy game.
