I afked a crew handing in 30k gold

  • It will be great once RARE allows us to start up a 4 man lobby with an open slot and not get a random person... so annoying when you get an idiot like this in your game after a friend disconnects or something.

  • @sanni

You Sir are part of the problem if you really believe its the op fault. They had him attacked right from the start. If they asked him normal he may have left. When they are salty because Rare is to stupid to fix their game its not his fault! Its part of the game mechanic! How do you PVP players always tell me BE MORE PIRATE ITS A PIRATE GAME

  • @stew360 said in I afked a crew handing in 30k gold:

Well due to my experience " pretending " the guys were so call Rude , when you join their game and try to get their loot and you knew very well you didnt do anything to deserve it make you the problem not them ... most likely you have taken the spot of one of their friend who got disconect ... and peoples who behave like you will end up having everyones playing in private party in the futur when those are implemented ...

When your not welcome in a crew you leave you dont try to be oportunistic and stole their loots wich isnt yours at all ...

First of all, it's "you're". The fact that you can't spell these two simple words make me lose any interest in reading your post.
Second of all, the pirate code on this website does mention being polite to other pirates. So he was NOT the problem. He joined a group that wanted him to leave, so they should have asked nicely. They do not get to boss anybody around. He does not take orders from some dudes that were born in a barn and brought up by a monkey. You can get a lot more stuff done if you are not a spoiled little s**t. You seem entitled.

  • I am a little surprised to read people actually defending the crew here. I mean, It is one thing to ask a guy to leave. It is another thing to send him messages, cursing at him to leave. How is that defendable?

  • OK I still can't get past the OP. "Turns out they had done a couple of strongholds.". I call Fake News on this. I mean really who just keeps all the stronghold loot on board for 3 or more hours waiting for another skull to pop. Then go and take it with a ship full of stronghold loot and whatever they did in between to the next one popping hours later.

I have seen EdeMonster on Twitch do it numerous times.

  • @itsmrticklez
Does it really matter? Maybe it wasnt that many who cares. Point is that this game brings out the worst of people, because Rare refuses to give this game any kind of rules or proper game mechanics. That is the core problem. People can say uts a pirate game as often as they want. Bad game design is bad game design.

  • @maximus1978 I wasn't commenting on the AFK camping part.

  • The brig was fine I think. It just let's you know they don't want you, but you are right they could of asked nicely for you to leave

  • Yarg! Yer juss a bunch of spineless seman.
I'd talk s**t right back and watch them carry the booty.
It's Sea of Thieves, not Sea of Snowflakes.
It's happened to me and my crew.
Be more pirate. He did that. He stole their loot.

  • Last time I got insta-brigged I told them I would only leave by cannon.

I had a last drink, stripped down to my tighty whiteys and requested them play me off. I gave a short toast, hopped in the cannon and was on my way.

I do understand insta-brigging in order to keep your loot from being tossed overboard or something. Find out if the pirate is a decent human being first but don't be a d****e.

  • This is one of the very few nice things about not having a kick feature. In other cases, it's open to abuse by people who just want to be jerks. I think it's important for people to identify and solve interpersonal problems between themselves as they arise, and if right and wrong were things that I acknowledged, I'd think that you did the right thing by responding rudely to rudeness. I'd have told them to gather round once they started selling and announce that I'd politely leave to show them how a proper human behaves, and suggest that they treat others as such to avoid similar demonstrations in the future. As it was described, one can only hope that they took something positive from the exchange when you could have made sure that they did.

An interesting addition would be a "docked pay" feature. This would limit people who afk for profit and still allow peaceful protest against rude people.

  • @xixxo123 very nice. I got that controller too, it is a beauty.

  • @d4u2s0t said in I afked a crew handing in 30k gold:

We had a fired get kicked mid voyage, someone else joined, and helped us with the last part of the voyage. We told him we would cash in the loot we worked for together if he would leave to let our friend return. He was very appreciative and left no questions asked.

Now this is how it's supposed to be done 👍

  • Not defending them but anytime I ask nicely people seem to capitalize on it if they have a numbers advantage, i was last man on a galleon the other day holding it with full supplies while the rest of the crew got something to eat, and sure enough ppl join, the first crew actually understand my vague NVC and helped me start and cancel merchant voyages to stock up on crates then politely left, the next crew brigged me and stole the ship and all my supplies even though I asked nicely and told them we would be using the ship for hours, it’s better to trick people if possible. “Oh we are about to get offline we just wanted to test the jump lunge for a little while, we brigged you so you wouldn’t move the ship, but no point in staying sorry mate” or some other stupid trick lol. Ofcourse this can only be done with a majority vote, which if they have your usually SOL.

  • @xixxo123 said in I afked a crew handing in 30k gold:

    @sanni

Thought it would trigger people haha

Honestly though, the guys were a*****s.. I am a very communicative player and they were extremley rude.

The irony here is that the guys who were being a******s all got paid out for the loot, you included. The guy who got disconnected suffered because you decided to make some sort of moral stand (while actually doing the opposite). It's not karma, it's not some form of justice, it's just selfish behavior and poor justification causing someone else to lose their hard work out on the seas. Could they have been nicer? Probably. Is it possible past experiences with trolls and griefers has killed their desire to even try? Probably. Did this move cause any of the offending parties any inconvenience? Not really. Just the poor guy who was trying to reconnect. Things like this are what will drive people away from the game faster than a lack of PvE servers or progression.

Also, "I thought this would trigger people" is a pretty amusing attempt to shield yourself from criticism. I doubt anyone here is triggered, just simply calling it like they see it: because of how you responded to the situation, you're no better than the people who treated you like c**p. That's the sort of thing that truly defines character, how you behave in undesirable circumstances.

  • @xixxo123 I feel ya.

When I join games and get insta-brigged before leaving the dock, I make it my soul purpose in life to stay until the very end. I normally watch netflix and occasionally tap jump on the keyboard to stay connected.

  • @itsmrticklez A lot of people do this for some damned reason.

Ive came across people with dozens of chests on their boat. Ive come across people with not 1, not 2, but 3 stronghold chests.

    Some people are nuts.

  • @drunkpunk138

Did you miss the post were i said the guy joining hadn't DCed? He was just joining to cash in on their friends work.

  • @xixxo123 You can't reason with people man.

Seriously. The people who think its okay to use the brig as a "g**o" tool have serious mental deficiencies.

  • It's a fracking Pirate game that we all paid for so if OP wants to chill in the brig until he get the gold that's his decision NOT anyone else's! Personally I was so p****d at getting insta-brigged once that I stayed in there for a good hour or so until I got the gold which worked out great cuz I need to get sum homework done, made a sandwich, read the news, took a bathroom "break", etc.

  • @xixxo123 Too many a*****s in this game, anonymous cowards who wouldn't say "Boo!" to you in person, yet feel free to curse you out at will in gameplay.

    Nice move. Congrats.

  • Hi @xixxo123 , we have had to edit your post even though you were quoting other people. If you could please be mindful of "Circumventing the Forum Profanity Filter".

  • I once joined into a galleon and was asked over the mic if I could leave since a friend of theirs had been disconnected. They had asked me politely and I simply left, I have no problem with people if they just simply show some kindness in how they ask. If I got insta brigged and insulted I would be confused and probably leave anyway. I don't take well to toxic players, but there is something that I would bring up for the dev's to think about, it would help if there was a party system where you could set up something like this, you know so you don't get random's just because your friend got kicked out. Like an option or something to enable/disable that. With the patches it might be able to be done, just wondering.

Now I'm not saying that you were wrong to simply stay down there and play music, after all if someone shows hostility the moment you enter the game it can be taken in sooo many ways. This was just one of those. It could also have turned into so many other games I know, devolving into arguments, bickering, more insulting and possible threats. Not to say it would happen, but how would you feel to be insulted just because you logged onto a game...not all of us are afk'ers or those looking for an easy haul. When I join a game its to have fun...and really thats what this game is. A fun game to be enjoyed, not turned into a mess because your angry.

  • @cardshark-360

Sure sorry :) tried to get the message across without dropping any profanities :D

  • @xixxo123 This is called Sea of Thieves. Not Sea of Gentlemen. Opportunity is a pirate's best friend. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. They ain't pirates. So long as you weren't afk, and would have left if they asked nicely, I think you did the pirate thing. Nice fetch.

  • @drunkpunk138 Sinking a galleon who just beat a fort and stealing the loot is just as bad behavior as what the OP did. He just cakewalked into it. This is a pirate game that encourages selfish behavior. When did that change?

  • @xixxo123 said in I afked a crew handing in 30k gold:

The title may trigger some people but this is what happened:

Joined the game, spawned in to the captains quaters and saw they had a bit of loot.. Typed "Hi guys" in the chat.

Ran downstairs and saw they were on their way to an outpost.. Winner, maybe i have a team i can do some voyaging with..

Saw a reponse saying "Dude [mod edited] leave"

I thought, well that was rude..

Then i was brigged, again i got sworn at over and over again telling me to leave because they have somone about to join..

Because of the way they instantly brigged along with being so abrupt and rude, i spend the next 20 minutes playing shantys in the ship being scuttled over and over as the crew who had gotten everything on the dock handed in their loot.

Turns out they had done a couple of strongholds..

For anyone wondering, had they politely asked me to leave i would have instantly left.. Rare's game mechanics allowed me to punish them, and i would do it again.

The brigging problem goes both ways, it sucks when it happens to people like you, who just want to play the game with nice group.

Then there is the other side to it, the people who join with the intent of griefing and trolling, aka constantly dropping your anchor, throwing your loot overboard, blowing explosive barrels inside their own ship. After they get brigged they just stand there AFK for few hours until people either leave or sell the stuff.

Private groups will fix this partially, random crews can still get messed with still. I can understand why someone does it instantly, I can't however, understand why they have to be so rude about it.

Good on you. Don't let anyone tell you different. They deserved that.

@sanni said in I afked a crew handing in 30k gold:

If people are waiting for a 4th but instead you join and they brig you so you don't mess anything up you should just leave.

I have been on both sides of this scenario and just leaving is the best solution to a problem that shouldn't even exist in the first place. #privatecrews

I would always leave, but given their immediate hostility and my knowledge of them having loot, i decided to punish the toxic players.

By becoming a toxic player? Something about the abyss staring back, becoming what you hate ect.
