Sea of C**p

  • First off, your in-game voice barely works. Who knows if the rest of your crew will hear you every time you join them. God help you if you are in an Xbox party, because then Xbox doesn't know where to have your voice working.
Next, fix the game crashes. No errors, no messages, the game just crashes for no reason. And all the time you just sunk into it has been wasted. This isn't a rare occurrence. This isn't due to high traffic. I've been in a session where all I've seen are me and the dude who joined my crew, and then plop...game crashes, my work undone. I have no way of rejoining.

This game can be fun, but right now, its a pile of c**p. No way this should have gone out in this state. Trying to join with friends is just horrid. Most of the time they show as offline, despite being on your boat. This is just lazy.

  • You do know most big open world multiplayer games have server problems just after launch right? I could name about a dozen right now. They are doing a better job than most actually. It blows and i hate it to but comon mate

  • The errors I've had have been few and minor. I don't think this problem is widespread so you may need to check your setup for any problems. If you're on PC, that's just part of PC gaming; fixing errors.

  • odd you would want voice chat fixed before game crashes....although how would anyone hear the complaints I guess?

  • Please review your network setup and test your NAT, Ethernet instead of wifi (if possible), reset modem/router and perform connectivity tests, port forwards etc.

Game chat (proximity) has always been a little “quieter” than party chat and I find that sometimes just unplugging/plugging in headset can help. Having a headset ‘mixer’ attached helps a lot too, to adjust the game sounds vs. chat volume.

Another area to review is audio settings under options (in game) - setting crew chat to headphones only - once it is consistently working for you.

Some people have Kinect and may have it enabled for chat without knowing, this can cause feedback if they have audio thru tv or speakers, which the Kinect picks up and reverbs in headset.

Kinect for chat can be turned off by pressing home, going to settings and audio. Flip of a switch.

Party chat has the option to switch to game chat, which is useful if you want to converse with other players in-game. Also, if party chat is acting up for you, try muting and unmuting people and it might kick back in for you.

Just some suggestions to help you out!

  • Port forward for xbox:

    Port forward for PC:
"The game runs through Xbox's servers, so you don't need to Port-forward any ports for SoT, you will just have to Forward the port that your Teredo adapter has assigned for the Xbox app on Windows.

To find this info you'll need to run an Elevated CMD (Run as Admin)
    And put in this command:
    netsh int teredo show state

It will then give you your Teredo adapters port listed as 'Client Port'.
Forward that port for UDP and all will be set, this will also give you an Open NAT type."
