@ultimavisio said in Gold Hoarders Riddle Quests should guarantee a Captains Chest:
@captain-crowlee I agree with the fact that riddle quests are very underwhelming at the moment. Ensuring that players are well rewarded for these quests would definitely help, but would run the risk of people ignoring the other quests and only doing the riddles since it is guaranteed 1k+ gold on completion. If this were to happen, I think that riddle quests would need to have their drop rate reduced, and/or have a chance to reward a band of chests from marauders - chest of sorrows. Mauraders chests would be the most common at a 50% drop chance, captains chests at 30%, and CoS and Drunk Chest 10%.
I agree with this idea. While the riddles aren't super complicated, especially if you have four people working on solving them and they can always be looked up online, I believe that they should be worth doing. The rewards for a riddle should be based on how many steps there are to the riddle. More steps = higher chance of a greater chest.
However, just because there is a higher chance of a greater chest does not mean there shouldn't be a chance for a lesser chest. We should still be able to get Sea and Cast chests from riddle quests but those chests should have the amount of rep they give for turning in increased.
All that or at the very least there needs to be a sizable rep increase for completing a voyage and turning in all of its chests. For instance if a voyage was named "The Screaming Hellcat" you would get a Seafarers Chest (The Screaming Hellcat), Captains Chest (The Screaming Hellcat), etc... This way it would encourage players to complete each voyage instead of only picking the "best parts" of the voyage and abandoning the rest.
