Cursed boats
Now I know, I know, sounds a little over powered. But here me out on this one; what if you could find a mystical looking ship with specific powers out of nowhere (Not going to lie sounds pretty awesome!). Ok so now how would this work? Well, even though you found this magical boat of awesomeness, you could only have one of these boats in the game at once (With obvious long cool downs for the boat abilities). One magical boat per server; like finding a unicorn in the water. So how do you find one of these cursed ships? These cursed ships would be found randomly in the game (Remember only one per server). They would spawn and anchor somewhere on the map; being challenging and hard to find. Once found, the cursed ship would be used just like default ships in the game (You could place down quests and store bananas on them). These ships are not officially a player's ship. So, if one of these ships is destroyed, or stolen, then you will have to revert back to your old default ship again. Once a cursed ship is destroyed it will spawn somewhere randomly on the map again. These unique ships also have an adjustable wheel not common to your average ship. These cursed ships will have a wheel modification that can make players go up and down on it (So regular boats only go left and right, cursed boats can go left, right, up, and down). These ships are designed to spice up ship combat, exploration, and feelings of fear. Now that the introduction is out of the way, let us list some Mythical Boat ideas!
-The Ghost Ship
We saw this one coming! This ship will be a little different from the flying Dutchman's ship, as that ship is already in the game when you die. This scary vessel will glow neon green for the entirety of the game; especially at night (Making it probably one of the easiest cursed ships to find). This ship is a strange one indeed, due to its ability to hover and land on water. This will be a wheel modification for the ghost ship, so when you go up (while sailing the ship), the cursed ship will hover, and when you go down you land back in the water. The cursed ship also makes the crew ghosts at night (This effect lasts for a whole night). To become a ghost a player must be on the ship for more than five minutes. If players using the ship has the ship stolen, or destroyed (by any means), the effect for that ghost ship will only last for one night and one night only (The night you were on that ghost ship). Once a ghost, you (the player) will be invincible to physical attacks (But again this effect happens at night). The only weakness a ghost will have is a lantern that is lit. Lanterns can hurt and potentially kill players that are ghosts (So be careful). The ghost ship also changes the environment when sailing it (these environment changes are mostly settle). The environment change for this cursed ship is a light fog on the map. Now, I know that sounds annoying, but this fog will only be around the ghost ship and will not persist more than five islands in distance (This is important for balancing reasons). And yes, players on the ghost ship will be affect by the environment changes as well. This fog will be a light and thin fog, making the environment seem creepy and somewhat dangerous. There will also be a strange ghostly humming sound when in contact with a ghost ship. This will help notify players, around the area, that a ghost ship is nearby (So that player can start running ahead of time!). This ghost ship is meant to strike fear in players, giving them feelings of excitement and wonder when out at sea.
-The Flying Ship
(This one is a little out there, but hey I could make this work) You can find this flying ship anchored in water on one random island in the game. This ship resembles a galleon but bigger (the sales and bulk of the ship are slightly bigger). Now this flying ship will be able to... Well Fly! Now how would this ship work? Well, if a crew of players boards this cursed beauty, they will instantly get an effect. This effect will be no fall damage followed by sticky boots (But obviously if you are away from your cursed ship for too long the effect goes away). No fall damage will help players board grounded ships and sticky boots will help players stay on the ship when flying in the air or descending to the ground. So how would this cursed ship operate? The ship will operate as follows. As you know, cursed ships steer a bit differently than regular ships in the game (These are called wheel modifications). These modifications let players in possession of a cursed ship move left, right, up, and down. To use this ship's flying capabilities a player must first raise the anchor, set the sails and point up with the ships wheel (This will lift the magical ship off the ground). To start landing the player must point the ship's wheel down when sailing. Once the cursed ship hits water again it will act like a regular boat. This ship can also stop in the air instantly, by lowering the anchors (To move again just raise the anchors like before). Once in the air the ship will only be able to go a certain height off the ground (would be cool to sail up in the clouds but I won't push it, whatever height that is chosen is fine with me). The ship's ability will only last 9 minutes, after that the ship will start slowly descending to the ground (Just try not to land on any islands). If the ship does manage to get stuck on an island for too long, the ship will auto destroy itself and spawn randomly somewhere else. This cursed vessel also helps other players on the map. The reason why I say this is because this particular ship leaves a trail of light blue dust in the water while flying. This magical dust floating in the water can be scooped up by other players and stored/pilled on a player's ship (So you can stack a lot of it all over the place as storage). This will give players the option to either sell this magical dust (to the merchant alliance) or use it on their boat to fly for a limited amount of time. To sell the dust, players must go to a local outpost, scoop up some blue dust with their bucket, and go to the merchant alliance section. To fly on the other hand is different. Yes! a player's ship can fly as well, but the flying will operate differently since it is not a cursed ship that goes up and down. For a player to fly they would need to splash a bucket of magical blue dust at their boat. The boat will lift off the ground just a bit. The more magical blue dust the player throws on the ship, the higher it goes (The effect only lasts around 2 minutest, but the more dust splashed on the ship the longer the effect lasts). Keep in mind a player using this method will not be able to land by choice and will only go as high as any other ship. The player will still be able to use the wind current and ship wheel to go left and right (but again will not be able to go up and down). The flying effect can be canceled by splashing one bucket of water on the ship. If you do this method then your ship will immediately start falling (it will be fast falling!!) Just remember that if you (the player) are really high up off the ground then you might want to consider the islands below you. If a player's boat gets stuck on an island then that boat will destroy itself after a certain amount time. Also, be careful when falling, as players will start flying off the ship (This will pertain to everyone using the magical dust to fly). Just think about it, flying boats all over a server (sounds like a magical time).
