Prodigy cheated his way to Pirate Legend...

  • I’ve seen many posts about this guy. Uh yeah this guy is obviously is a major s*****g and I hope he gets permanently banned from playing this because that’s not how you play this game by having others do your work for you. Such a disgrace to the gaming community

Again, Rare constantly said this game is meant to be played as you want. If this game allows it, he can play it this way. If he managed to convince a lot of pirates to work for him while he just rests, that is also a way to do it.

  • You guys should read the brand new forum rules, just sayin'

    https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/45979/introducing-new-forum-rules/3

Name calling and derogatory terms might get you in trouble..

I kind of agree with you though ;)

Yeah, but Legends should be feared or at least give an indication that this player is good. Now it’s someone who don’t even know how to play. It’s pathetic...

  • L**O so many people butthurt over someone they don't know or ever will, get some arbitrary videogame title by gaming the system. It's not the players fault it's the system's!!!

But why? Where does it say that a Legendary Pirate of Sea of Thieves must be feared? He accomplished a "legendary" task, that is get a fleet of players and become their king, sort of. Even if I wouldn't do that, or even i couldn't do that because i don't have that kind of reach, doesn't mean nobody can.

  • That's not cheating. Is it exploiting the game's drop-in features? Yeah of course. But it takes a LOT of organization to pull something like that off and people do stuff like this all the time in order to get 'world firsts' in a game.

  • @tre-oni said in Prodigy cheated his way to Pirate Legend...:

    Cheating? No.

Bringing a community together so we can all see what the end result is? Sure.

I also don't know who this person is and why I should care, aside from being able to know what the legend content is.

Having others do the work for you is literally the definition of cheating.

  • @tucupa Lol, I guess that means that it's okay for a Whale to offer 25 cents per skull that they are given?

  • This is like if a runner in the Olypmics didn't feel like doing the race the entire way, so he allowed his community to do the race for him and then he showed up at the finish line to claim the gold. It's sad. AND, he's now not doing anything himself to solve the riddle. More sad. Weakest pirate legend ever.

If the aim of a gaming community is to exploit the system, that's pretty sad. They made it more about the end result than the journey.

Interested to see the legend loot and all, but I hope he doesn't brag about being the first. He's made "first" mean very little.

But if the organised criminals are helping people carry their shopping it's not actually crime, is it. Can you please highlight what "laws" he has broken here?

  • @ersatz-nihilist

It’s an analogy he obviously didn’t break any laws. He’s gaining from others work though without doing any work himself... that’s cheating.

  • Tho as someone said, Rare have said that this game can be played any way you like, so if there are glitches to exploit, do it... if you can cheat any way you want, do it. That's apparently the mentality... rather than fix a balance issue, just say "it can be played however you want". That's a massive cop-out.

  • @weepaperboats a legend that I'll destroy blind folded if we meet at thr sea. Honestky, I blame Rare for making the legend status all about griding that doesn't require any skill. Other ganes would have you kill some legendary, very hard boss. Here? You can literally become purate legend after soloely turning in chickens...

Sorry, that's why I put "laws" in quotation marks. So what actual game rules has he broken? Or is this just a vague "I don't like it" NIMBY response from you?

  • Great...now lets see the Legend content so I can know if I should continue the grind, or move on till updates.

  • Boosted scrub that doesn't even have a grasp of basic functions in game. He is no "legend", just a boosting P.O.S.

  • @ersatz-nihilist

Again he is gaining from the work of others without doing the work himself regardless of game rules or not that’s what cheating is defined as, “act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination”

This is certainly unfair to the main player base and is a dishonest way to play if you wanna ride the dudes d feel free though

Stop being a politician and answer the question - what rule of the game did he actually break in order to be labelled a cheater?

...Are you serious? For one, this thread could be considered witch hunting so it already violates rules. Second, there is nothing stopping others from doing methods like this; he just managed to do it first and get the most amount of people willing to cooperate with him. I've hopped into voyages before where they turned in and then I left shortly after - does that make me a cheater? No? Okay, then there's nothing wrong with him coordinating it because he's simply making use of the drop-in /drop-out mechanics.

If Rare sees it as cheating then they'll punish the guy, but you're using ridiculous hyperbole to make it sound like he's gotten away with murder on stream. Dude simply exploited the way crews work and wrenches could've been thrown into it at any given time due to the nature of random drop-ins joining the game sessions (and having no way to boot them if they don't care about wasting your time).

So chill out and calm thyself. You're blowing this wildly out of proportion.

Are you in love with this dude or something? He’s exploiting the system and you all are cheering him on. It’s sad. You don’t see steamers like Stone Mountain pilling this.

  • @pilks4k said in Prodigy cheated his way to Pirate Legend...:

@weepaperboats He started with a handful of viewers and more and more and more people came to his stream to offer their assistance they came together as a community with a single goal help their chosen Pirate King become a legend!

Lol I would not call this cheating but an amazing show of community!

He used no hacks or exploits or glitches he simply played the game and accepted the help offered to him by group of people its not against the rules so its not cheating.

You seriously need to take some time off on the forums if you're going to be this rabid for anyone telling you that you're wrong. You clearly have issues with the streamer in question, so just let Rare handle it if they find something wrong with it. Otherwise you're just digging a hole for yourself.

Also for the record I've never even heard of this guy and I don't give a care that he got Pirate Legend first. You sound like you're upset that he got there first over someone else you were rooting for.

    False
"Act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage" is the definition. Teamwork is not cheating and pirate legend gives you no advantage so try again.

  • It is a little sad that the first pirate legend barely even knows how to play the game, but honestly who cares, it means nothing especially considering the downtime for different zones/platforms.
