Lag Spikes & Rubberbanding

  • Been playing since launch and have noticed that there is consistent ping spikes and rubberbanding when playing.

My usual ping is anywhere between 65-80 but every few mins (even when stood perfectly still on the dock) I will get a spike to anywhere from 130-250 with accompanying rubberbanding and/or warping forwards/backwards.

This issue has been there since launch but got a lot worse since their first maintenance.

Interesting to note that this was particularly bad for both me and @OldManSutii the other evening, however, the server pretty much died (didn't see a single ship for a good 1 hour+) and the lag/spikes were gone. Then we got transitioned into a new instance and BAM, lag spikes are back.

Would be nice to get some clarification from Rare as to if this is something they are looking into.

(Before anyone says, it's not my connection or my computer :P)

  • @redspooder same boat I got all the symptoms you got lol it's fine until it's starts getting more people or switching servers I always have to quit out and rejoin to get a fresh start.

  • We clearly aren't the only ones, lag spikes and rubberbanding are affecting even the most glorious rigs and connections...
I recently created a game with three friends, we were in the same room and everyone was doing fine except me on a good laptop. One Xbox One user, two good PCs were doing great without any noticed lag but for a still mysterious reason, I wasn't able to enjoy anything as I was launched left, right, up and down in a blink of an eye, taking damage sometimes as I was casually playing music on board (couldn't help the crew otherwise) and suddenly got teleported in the dephts of the sea with spikes of 700++ ping.

I tried lowering my graphics, it did some good but I still have gamebreaking spikes, sometimes ending with my ship going straight underwater without any damage and servers going down as I'm about to cash in my harshly acquired loot.

I don't want to be angry about this, I don't want a refund, but I would like to have a 92 CAD$ worth of a game, please! It's ruining the gaming experience, it's a severe issue.

  • Getting the same thing. Ping spikes get worse the longer I play. First hour seems to be okay with ping ranging from 38-60 ish. After that it's all over the place, we're talking 38 to 100 then to 180+ and back down to 30.

I would point fingers at my ISP but they've been rock solid for 2 years. That plus lat in all other games (WoW, LoL, GTAO, RL) is around 12-16 so.....

  • @red-spoder I play on Xbox and I get the same issues just I get hit with a error code that isn’t even listed in the games errors. I wish they would fix it. It to the point of I don’t want to play anymore. And I’ve made great friends.

  • Yeah I average 150 to 180 ping all the time despite 70mg wired ethernet connection. Occasionally I get a game where it sits at 100 which isnt so bad but maaaan really hope They work on the servers a little more.
