Riddles and treasure maps... could easily be better.

  • I like the riddles, but i'll admit they are way too basic. Especially i've you've prove you worth and upgraded to high level voyages, the riddles just get bigger, not tougher.

My main gripe is the first line of each riddle. It's essentially 'Island name' + gibberish. Why not for higher level riddles swap out the island name for a riddle that hints at that name, and higher levels still riddles that hint at the island geographical location or shape.

Treasure maps might not be everyone's cuppa, but if you start by comparing cmpass bearing with the maps compass guide, they are pretty much easy. My learning curve for getting used to these challenges was about as challenging as getting on a stairlift.

How about as voyage level progresses, the compass guide is removed, the absurdly high definition maps become simplified, then become black and white, then either become merely an arrangement of symbols or have certain areas of the map missing.

The riddles could so easily have been made better by not giving away the island name at higher levels. Yes, the game should be welcoming. But don't force better players to have to keep solving basic challenges or they're obviously going to get bored very quickly.

This would make a big difference to me. The order of souls are fun enough for me because they're fairly fast. Cannon blast a few skellies and grab a skull. They seem to more frequently occur on small islands too. But I generally do not get excited about the hoarders missions. They're just too easy.

I'm only rank 15 in each, so i'm not super far in, but from what I've seen in videos the challeges don't get harder, they just get longer and more grindy.

There was a game they did brilliant treasure maps. The maps had cleary not been printed off a computer but instead drawn in a relative rush with poor equipment. It may have been Zelda Wind Waker but i feel like it was some other game. But yeah, I think this would improve the game a lot more than having an extra 3 man boat to pick.
