How do I report people for cheating?

  • I was in game earlier with a friend doing a 2-man Sloop.

We were minding our own business when another Sloop was seen on the horizon. Preferring to not engage at that time (we had a hoard of booty), we decided to weigh anchor and depart with expedience.

This was when things started to get a bit interesting.

The vessel that was in pursuit managed to not only keep right on our heels, they managed to catch up to us, and almost pass us, heading into the wind with their sails un-adjusted.

So, being the scurvy dogs we were, we decided to bring the pain.

I immediately jumped ship and boarded theirs. I took both players out with some well timed shots from the blunderbuss, while I scarfed nanners and dropped their anchor to make them delay.

When they re-spawned, I tried to occupy them for another moment to allow as much time for my companion to get away, but they inevitably killed me.

When I respawned, I saw that they had (again) caught up to my friend... Who never stopped sailing during my buccaneer escapades.

We decided at this point to just try to lose them and sell our loot. We headed over to Plunder Outpost and I managed to sell one of our skulls we had collected.

They, again, caught us and rammed us into shore.

We managed to slip behind them and drop anchor while they were doing ... things?

We parked directly behind them and proceeded to empty (literally) 40~ cannons DIRECTLY INTO THEIR HULL, BELOW THE FABLED WATER LINE.

This had no effect on their magically imbued Titanium amalgam alloy.

They would then simply swim to our shop, board, get shot (by blunderbusses from both myself and my crewmate) to which they chortled and poked me with their sword. I died immediately.

This happened for about 10 minutes, until I gave up and logged off the game.

I wasn't able to save my nVidia ShadowPlay (its such an amazing app, it works all the time!) so I cannot get the name of the second person, but the one I was able to remember is:

  • @razielkaine Edit is hidden behind the ship wheel in the bottom right corner of the post.

  • they need to make separate servers so pc players play against pc and xbox vs xbox players as tonight we had a crew of 4 v3 a crew of 3 they were pc players they were using a lag switch as everytime we got near then we lagged hard I have not had this on this game since release this needs sortin as pc players are overpowerd compaired to xbox players

  • @ruggedferret292 I have had the latency issues since Beta myself.

It looks like possibly lag hacking, but it happens almost every single time I get near another group of players, ping will go from ~60ms up to +250ms and stay there until one of the teams leaves/dies.

  • @ruggedferret292 Most likely not a lag switch. Just how the servers are configured. Happened to my PC crew the other day too. We went to 500MS as soon as they came close. Sunk them and it dropped. I think they lagged too.

Keep in mind that they would not be able to make YOU lag with a lag switch. That would make no sense.

  • the pc players wernt lagging I have game clips recoreded on my xbox and so do 3 other people its just so crazy since crossplatform getting all theses issues they need to make separate servers

  • @ruggedferret292 No they do not need to make separate servers, I like to play with my friends on their xbox from my pc. So my girlfriend can use the tv and xbox herself. Plenty of people in fact not only enjoy cross play but beg for it as a feature in many cross platform multiplayer games.

  • @odst-general since release I have not lagged last night me and my crew was against 3 galleons all pc players and there was no lag we sunk 2 of the ships and the last 1 hit us with hard lag as they could move but we couldent so we need separate servers as they wernt crossplatform on release

  • They probably weren’t cheating. Also, don’t witch hunt peeps with no evidence, its against forum rules.

  • @chazzyau there are 4 of us with recorded clips of them runin around while we were laggin everywere

  • @razielkaine Sounds like you suck and need to get better. Call it cheating all you want but there's some holes in your story and you have no proof of wrong doing.

  • @ruggedferret292 Unless they got your IPs, and went out there way to DDOS you for the duration of the battle, I can't see them being to blame for your lag. More likely a server issue, or your connection...

  • @japollo-93 there was no servere issue as me and my crew were battleing 3 galleons all pc players me and my crew are xbox players and there was no lag for the whole battle only wen we sunk 2 galleons the other galleon made us lag hard now for the second time ive not had this bad of lag since day 1 of the game comeing out and ther no way its my internet as ime like runin 200 meg

  • @ruggedferret292 No really bad lag for three whole days! Guess what getting rid of cross play will not stop cheaters.

  • I have a story.
Either they were gods are cannon fire or hacks. Every single cannon shot was spot on from so far away and at rapid speed. We even managed to get on the other side of the Island and they were shooting OVER THE ISLAND and EVERY SINGLE SHOT WAS SPOT ON. The cliffs of the island were big, we couldn't even see their ship, just cannon balls raining pin point fire on us. It was pretty crazy.

  • @goht Well, I do, actually, so ... sure?

  • @razielkaine Hi there. Naming a user for something negative is not allowed on the forum. If you truly believe there is an issue regarding another player please report them through XBL or use a support ticket which is private. No naming and shaming in the future.

Telling someone they suck with no evidence other then the fact they are asking for help on a forum about what could be a legit issue is rather toxic. I have seen players take repeated cannon balls to the face while being hacked and shot to bits only to turn around and one shot people. So, yeah if that is "get better scrub" material than you clearly don't have an idea of what its like to run into one of these players. And there are plenty of other people who have ran into this same type of issue on the forums. So, maybe you should do your research before posting.

  • The hacks are deff out there, I wasn't sure from the stories on here till we had a incident tonight. Similar, sloop catching our galley, hammer it, sink it, kill them then p**f, they are on our boat dancing and sitting on the wheel. Kill em again, and again back on the boat. Had to quit questing and try to sell all the stuff we had in hopes they keep toying with us and not start murdering us. But once we got there, they appeared on the ship again, tried tossing our loot, then beat us to the tent and blocked it so we couldn't sell and killed us

  • I think you will find its lag , all Europeans , Americans and Asians are on the same server.

I did note that when you run towards the back of the ship "captains cabin upper deck" there is severe rubber banding and if your in a fight with players at this location sometimes its 3 or so blunderbuss hits to kill yet they down you in 1.

Some crews lag some crews don't lag it can cause shots to not register , boats to move quicker.

Also take into account even a metre apart can be the difference between optimised sails or not.

Last night there was one specific crew that we couldn't engage In melee , the minute you got within poking range you rubber banded back and received a blunderbuss to the face , its just launched expect server issues and teething problems

  • You need to spread your shots or it won’t make another hole.

  • On a sloop there is not so much a need for the "below water line" shots as they only have 1 level of their ship. The only way you would not put a hole in their 1 level is if you were nailing above deck somehow.

  • @lo1-r3x said in How do I report people for cheating?:

You need to spread your shots or it won’t make another hole.

    This is the way.

Same place shots only try to put a hole in that spot. Only effective if they had repaired.

  • So what is the official means of reporting a player suspected of cheating? We experienced someone who had an acceleration hack in effect, their swords made super-fast hacking sounds and killed us almost immediately, and watching them jump was also unnaturally fast, up and down WAY faster than I've seen before. Also they remotely lowered our anchor without being on board. So again, what is the formal channel for reporting these people?

  • @adudenamedjay Ahoy there matey!

The way to report a player is by creating a support ticket at the following page below. Rare can then take a look if any foul play took place and work on fixes for any abuse/mechanics used.

  • Outstanding! Thank you for the link!!
