L**o cheaters are going crazy right now.

  • @captainsloopdog said in L**o cheaters are going crazy right now.:

I simply don't understand the desire to cheat in a game. Does it give them a sense of accomplishment? What's the benefit?

    Oh well. Report them.

    Thanks for the PSA.

cheating sucks sure, but, you can not tell me that you don't find the appeal in cheating

i grew up in the 80's and video games back then up to the 2000's all had cheats you could use which made them super fun and exciting to play

heck even in the early days of Counter Strike, i would go to internet lan cafes, and everyone would load up their wall hacks and aim bots and just have a blast all night

again, cheating these days sucks, but i think outright saying you don't see the appealing in cheating in just a flat out lie

  • @rager82 both of these could be do to ping issues on one or both ends. Ive seen a ship sail through and island, but that wasnt hacks it was just lag.

  • @rager82 said in L**o cheaters are going crazy right now.:

I give this game 1 month tops.

There are a couple different ways people leave a game.

Some load hacks and rip the game up till they're caught and banned and others just uninstall.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were some people hacking, but more times than not, what people think is a hack is really just server lag.

That very well could be, I would gladly be happy with that over this feeling of dread I have now.

  • Well that confirms another person seen the "machine gun"

My friend and I were boarded last night and one player had a gun on full auto

  • @rager82 Voyages aren't 100 gold until level 25 and at that level you won't get one castaway chest and nothing else, hell I rarely see anything lower than a seafarer and theres always additional treasure close by.

  • I've been playing 9+ hours a day since launch, haven't seen a single hacker. As a matter of fact, we haven't discovered any exploits. The only issues we've had are connectivity related.

    Hope your experience improves! :)

  • @sealitre
It's still random, I still had a 1 chest voyage on my level 30 gold hoarders voyage. costing 120g

No, I see no appeal in cheating. None.

I wouldn't put using the Up-Down-Up-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-B-A-B-A-Select-Start on the same page of "cheating" as exploiting an online game that impacts others.

I mean, if I play Monopoly against myself and give myself all the $500s ... I'm "cheating" but no one is impacted. If I play that same game against my brother and take all the $500s ... then I'm cheating.

I see no appeal in this.

  • @rager82

"Reakky Don't roll your eyes at me, If you played the game you would see it also."

First of all, i am, so why shouldn't he?

Secondly, this game isn't exactly exotic merchandise, there's an easily affordable copy for everyone, do not EVER assume someone on the freaking SoT forums hasn't played it... The majority of us have the game, and we're playing it on a daily basis.

Defaulting to the "oh you must not have played the game" mentality of a the games forums is a clear indication that you don't have a strong argument for your opinion, fyi, because it's a mentality that is only born from personal bias.

"I saw a guy run on water at super speed."

I've seen french players cheat so their sniper shots explode like gunpowder barrels on whatever surface the bullet hit.

Game is in early stages, Rare is already working on it... If you had any understanding of how games work in development, you'd know that fixes to all the problems do not come within a week of the game launching. -.-

Every patch to the game, fixes more and more things, be it bugs, content, hackers or optimization.

Every company has the same processes for this stuff... World of Warcraft was even worse when it first started out, just fyi... There are no exceptions to this.

SoT dev team has done nothing to deserve this kind of reaction from you yet, another indication that your argument is based on pure bias.

    "and lacks content"

Oh, i suppose you are level 50 with all three factions and have done every legendary voyage and all?

  • From the AMA:

"Q: Will there be some sort of anti-cheat implemented at launch? Like Microsoft's TruePlay? I hope basic low hanging fruit like Cheat Engine will be blocked."

"A: We've done a lot of work around our security methods. We'll continue to monitor as we go. It's something that's really important to us."

    Source

  • can confirm, we spent 40 minutes battling some hackers at a skeleton fort last night. WE hit their ship over 40 times consecutively, and yet their ship did not sink. 2 were on the island and 2 were on the ship, there is no way they could patch fast enough but somehow they never sank. When we fought them, the autoblocked our shots and 1 shotted us. They then proceeded to tell us they were hacking so leave. All of it was recorded but is there a way to report it to M$?

oh not to forget, they were also abusive in the text chat.

  • The fact that there is already a cheat menu for this game and it seems that there is no anti cheat to be seen makes me really angry that as an xbox player I cannot opt out of cross play. MS stated that ALL cross play games would be required to give you a way to opt out yet they don't make Rare do it.

  • @Rager82 Hello mate, please read and abide by the Pirate Code and respect all community members. I have deleted a couple of your posts in this thread for this reason. Thank you in advance!

  • @rager82 according to you it's super bad right now and shouldn't take long to find a cheater. Go ahead and send us a video.

  • @hot-juicy-pie said in L**o cheaters are going crazy right now.:

I'm sure it's against the rules to post a direct link, but a simple google search more than verifies the existence of hacks already. Video evidence and all.

While i'd be very cautious to believe anything shown via a simple google search of '1337 sea of thieves hax' (such results are usually scams/trash.) There def are some trainers out there, nothing exciting or revolutionary, just your typical aimbot / Godmode stuff.

I wouldn't believe everything you see or read, as some of the things shown to be 'hacked' I believe may be server-side. Not impossible, but def more tricky to pull off undetected.

major issue seems to be the lack of stable/sufficient anti-cheat at the moment.

So while it's safe to say they exist, and various hacker groups/forums are discussing things. I'd give it short-term success at best before this is all patched up and slammed down.

Unfortunately this does mean we'll have to put up with a bit of griefing. But it's aslo super easy for the dev team to spot such behaviour, even more so in a game of this nature with player progression/tracking. Players racking up insane kill streaks / XP gain / gold gain will be quickly logged and will stand out like a sore thumb when viewing the data.

Once anti-cheat kicks in (not a major priority while we have server issues / etc). All the hackers should get slapped and it'll be smooth sailing..

    I hope :D

  • @UberWiggett please put in a Support Ticket to report this.

  • I have 2 hrs of footage to cherry pick through and compile to video evidence. Mind you, from the other thread where the guy who said he had the same cheater problem we had, he was then beaten down by the other posters saying he "just can't shoot properly". Pretty disappointed in the attitude of the community here so I'll take my time with the report, maybe then they'll come across these guys.

  • @arson000 www.hookedonphonics.com

If you read through the thread someone already did.

  • @uberwiggett you know how it goes the usual aint happened to me so you lie and it dont exist, its the same with anygame lol,

i have seen people banned left right and center in fortnite and still see people go cant be real there are no hacks i aint seen it so i dont believe it

  • @sn4res unfortunatly sea of thieves uses the unreal engine which is very easy to exploit/hack, once rare put on a decent anticheat it should be fine though :)

  • @rager82 Luckily I haven't ran into any yet. But they do indeed exist. Many reports of them, as well as video evidence. Google it my friends.

  • @rager82 another streamer.... yep. Just like tinfoil hat cientists, world is full of them.

  • Please explain. I havn't seen 1 in 60 hours.

  • @samoclarkey Google

  • @cavemancronch True, but regardless of the engine used. Server-sided information is a different ballgame entirely.

  • I've yet to see any cheaters. Record them, grab their username, and report them to Rare and Microsoft.

  • I've only seen aimbotters so far. 100% headshot accuracy with the pistol from long distances.

  • Staying true to your name :0 @Rager82

  • @glacefrostclaw said in L**o cheaters are going crazy right now.:

@rager82 how is the game poorly balanced? there are no stats to balance.

It's a bit pedantic, but I felt the need to call out how silly this post is. There are always "stats to balance" in literally every game. You don't think that the pistol, blunderbuss, and sniper rifle have varying stats that can be tweaked?

  • @porrage alright fair enough, but everyone has access to the same items.

  • @rager82 said in L**o cheaters are going crazy right now.:

@xrekkoffx Reakky Don't roll your eyes at me, If you played the game you would see it also.

I saw a guy run on water at super speed.
I saw someone using shotgun like a machine gun with no reload needed. I even had someone come onto our boat dance and we could not kill him. We had to use shotgun to bounce him off.

This has happen a ton today. I take it a new hack just rolled in for the game. So not only is this game poorly balance, and lacks content, but people now got to hack to have fun in it.

Mate running super speed on water is not cheating, just stand at shore and charge ur sword towards the water and you will become sonic.

And the part about machine gun loading is just lag, happened to me too

  • And let me guess: you have no images or footage to prove any of this.

  • I agree man i came across two different guys now who could not be killed. They damaged me with shots but my shots did nothing I am guessing they were PC players. So frustrating and ruining the game.
