This game is 3 days old all I have seen so far is a bunch of children who think killing solo players and camping their boat is funny and yes once or twice maybe but 8 10 times gets a little old this will be an avoid for me unless I have friends playing. Thank god I tried it on game pass before I spent 80$. There definitely needs to be a cooldown time once you respawn so u can at least scuttle your boat and avoid getting shotgunned by 4 people.
this game is unplayable solo
@kablog you can scuttle your boat whilst on the ship of the dammed
Also random boat respawn points would be nice@kablog this is the one thing I actually consider greifing and I’m sorry you have to experience it. Although with practice you’ll get better at sailing and be able to decide wether people are able to approach you or not. Don’t give up man!
@kablog I agree. The 1st day I played I had an absolute blast sailing solo. Now I can't complete a single mission now that the trolls have already taken over the game on day two. I thought the Sanctuary Island was a protected, safe area. I can't even leave the island now when a Galleon suddenly appears with a full crew and destroys everything I have. This game had some much beauty and promise. :(
obviously, I am exaggerating when I say it's impossible I will scuttle from the respawn boat in the future, but the fun factor is definitely missing for me so far, I had high hopes for this game I'm going to give a day or 2 but likely without friends online playing this I doubt it'll be in my regular rotation.
@disrespects-son don't when i first joined for a youtube recording i had spawned in the middle of the storm, and when i scuttled to respawn i got deaded by a camper :P

Completely untrue, I solo alot. Just need to learn the ins and outs.
My tip when being spawn camped ; and yes I understand you want to play the game and that's why it bothers us so either relog and hope for a better server or....Go AFK. Yeah just go make a pot of coffee, make a sandwich,go buy some beer or whatever. Occasionally come check if they are still ganking your obviously AFK character. If so....Start a load of laundry, shave, take a shower, check again. If they are still at it,call an old friend you haven't talked to in a while. Maybe do your schedule for the next week.
In the end some if let us say some 4 people are spawn camping you for 30 minutes, they will have WASTED 30 minutes of their lives. They are actually 30 minutes closer to death for basically nothing. While you, added needed fuel to your body, dealt with your personal Hygiene, retained an old friendship, and if you in those 30 minutes spent any time with a child, spouse or pet enriched the life of another. I say let them spawn camp! In the end you have one the true victory and after they get bored and move on, play the game and have fun.Use my tips n u will have a bwtter time :) hope this helps:
https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/39409/soloing-tips-for-newbsThis game can be amazing solo, like a lot of the previous posts have said it’s the hardest way to play, you just have to learn to be a bit more savy. You will learn from every game but it will be hard work and players that spawn camp are nothing new, scuttle your boat and sail away from where they are, don’t give up the knowledge will come with time.
@robroythered sagte in this game is unplayable solo:
I think having a smaller ship for the solo player to roam around in would be great. Something that still requires sail adjustment, steering, compassing, etc., But a little more user friendly and having all the tools.
What are you talking about?
@kablog I have soloed many times. Just did so tonight. It is completely possible. You just need to be a bit more careful than usual.
@kablog I’m sure you’ve been informed several times in the previous 20+ posts above me, but I can assure you this game is 100% playable solo. You just can’t go toe-to-toe with a galleon. Zig zag and fire on their bow or stern from a distance if you need to fight.
I've spent 5-6 hours playing solo and not have I had no issues with other players. I haven't even seen other players..
Seriously, the only other time I ran into another player was at an outpost. While I was unloading my chest, he jumped on my ship and lifted the anchor. We both had a good laugh and went on our way. Outside that I've ran into nobody. Maybe some ships on the horizon. But that's it.
I don't find solo to be unplayable. Maybe you aren't good at solo and so you require a crew member.
Few minutes ago I was hunting down a Galleon with 4 players on whilst solo. They couldn't even take me out with their cannons, so they had to send their crew members.
I believe this is a game where you have to be aware at all times and think ahead of them. If can't do that then you're gonna struggle.
I've given this game a real shot I've played 4 man and 2 man with friends but mostly played solo I leveled to almost 20 with every faction 95% solo play I stand by this post it is not unplayable but it is not the least bit enjoyable and it's not the generic repetitive "voyages" its not the lame a*s combat I don't even have a problem with playing a session and having my ship sunk while loaded with loot its a pirate game I get that but what is the point of putting in the time and get 0 rewards if I get sunk with a ship full of loot I get no rep no gold jack s**t there needs to be some base rewards once completesd with the majority of the rewards coming with turn in. I won't waste 1 more second on this game.
@kablog
You are not suppossed to get rewarded for losing. If ur getting sunk as much as u say then you are not trying hard enough not too
