Small buyable 'Dinghy' boats for Galleons (unlockable late game)

  • I want to make a suggestion for future developments.
Imagine being able to buy a small 2 person boat (for around 1500 coins) which can be stored on the deck of a Galleon. You could use this boat to park your Galleon off shore and row towards land and transport chests back to your ship. You would need 2 people to carry this boat onto your ship (involves teamwork to carry) and also 2 people to put the boat into water. One person steers the small boat and the other rows. Other pirate crews could also try and steal this boat from your deck, but you could always buy new ones at the outposts if you loose it. This boat would give you a new object to defend on your ship and makes the pirate life more immersive and fun. Let me know what you guys think of my idea!

  • Yes we need this it will make carrying chests back to the ship much easier.

  • this is a pretty good idea but i don't know if it will work for sea of thieves, I do hope it will be considered at least.

  • Carrying the boat with 2 players and walking up the ladder of the boat might be tricky. Maybe 1 person could carry it but the player would walk very slow. I do feel there should be some sort of handicap while carrying this boat.

  • I was thinking we could just swim in empty barrels solo :D

  • It would probably work more like a ship upgrade you buy at the shipwright.

  • No vertical progression advantages. Someone far more into the game with the ability to easily get a dinghy than a new guy and get around much quicker.. nah. swimming isn't hard anyway.

  • Already confirmed that they thought about it, know how it would work, but do not have it on their roadmap yet. In other words, they are prioritising other stuff first.

  • @tavishhill2003 source?

  • @badge-uju Don't have the link off hand, but Joe Neate confirmed it yesterday on Twitter. :/

  • I’d love to have a rowboat on hand, but I believe it should hang off the side of the galleon so players may untie it and it will fall into the water. Then, they tie it back to the side, making it easy to send it out and bring it back in!
