Bla bla bla PvP sucks. We've been reading this in this game and others for decades now.
The argument ends up being how it's so unfair for people to grind safely and enter PvP with stuff they didn't 'earn'
Easy solution.
2 characters for 2 servers. Done.
I'm so sick of finding out friends of friends all love the game, or certain gender locked cowboy games, but all choose not to play them because of the PvP. There are more than dozen women in my social circle alone who just want to spend their money making pretty pirates and having pets while they go fishing and trade. How many other people could be spending money on the game? How much of that market is even currently involved in the game? Please quit being obstinate and open an actual PvE server that lets you do the things, and lock the characters to that server so that nobody on the PvP server feels cheated. These players you'd be drawing in are already non-existent, are already not doing the PvP, and are already not participating when the PvP is brought to them. I know one literally gets up and starts cleaning because it's more productive use of their time. We're all grinding that dopamine.
There isn't a single immersive open world co-op / mmo game with content and action based grinding on the market that isn't also PvP enabled, and ANY game with PvP is balanced around PvP metas, which almost ALWAYS screw over the PvE'r.
Well... there's a few smaller ones. One's gender-locked and engorges it's own crews ire in rocks and stones. To this I ask you why you (the person who struggles to understand and loudly shouts against), don't get why some people just want to cosmetically dress up women? Again, the market will just move on.
PvE isn't a gender locked thing. Most Divers figured that out when treading hell.
Who knows... maybe when these PvE'rs (we've called them sheep) get good and bored, they'll start over and become ruthless pirate legends. Safer Seas is a joke for anyone playing an extended session, or multiple.
Why do you think there's the perception women don't game? Beyond daily life and chorin to various degrees at the end of the day the only games that let us play the way we want don't have PvP. You can't force people to get into a sandbox if you're just going to throw sand at them while they do their own thing. They'll go somewhere else every time.
I'm not saying men suck argh women aren't seen the world is cruel. I'm saying in my lens alone there are plenty of women who are gaming and want to play some of these better games, but are stuck playing farm sims since they let them build sandcastles in their own sandboxes without someone they'll never see again inevitably kicking them over.
I'm saying this constant battle between PvE and PvP in games needs to stop. Let the sheep graze on their own, they are not rewarding to slaughter. Let the PvP'rs into an arena with other PvP'rs, that's far more exciting. Now you can ACTUALLY BALANCE THE TWO since they are separated by their goals and interests. I know of a few games that separated them from the beginning, or even transitioned from hardcore pvp to pve only to follow their market, and are still successful despite having decades old graphics.
I'm not salty. I've just been gaming for nearly three decades, and watched all my friends realize the market hates when people play their games their own way. At least they are playing the game. We've watched this community nearly die a few times. There are others who have not (had major corporate backing) survived the population dips.
Sincerely, my wife refuses to play because she sees the safer seas as a pink tax. That is a perception that is had about your game. You can deny it or blame the subject all you want, but at the end of the day they still aren't tilling your digital fields.
