When I was still new to the game, I met experienced players at an Outpost. I asked one of them which weapon was the best to use. He told me to get used to all of them (pistol, eye of reach, sword, and blunderbuss was all we had back then) since different situations called for different weapons. He said it was important to practice no matter what. "Let me show you how good I am with the eye of reach," he said. He shoots at the seagulls flying around the Outpost, runs over, and brings back a raw chicken leg. He said the system identifies it as raw chicken, since technically that's what the seagulls were in the code.
I tried. And I tried. And I kept trying to shoot a seagull. I'd shoot, and then search all over the area where it might have dropped dead, but there was nothing.
Whoever you were, good troll sir. On a positive note, I practiced a ton with the eye of reach.
