Here's a friendly warning to have in mind of the games future, regarding a specific NEW item.

  • @elmo6842 why shouldn't it be widely accessible though. All the other kegs are widely accessible so why limit it to this one in particular not to be? Mega kegs do as much damage and you find those on forts and in shipwrecks as well. Also you dig them up from skeleton orders. So we should just remove all the kegs and say all kegs should only be given from 1 specific quest then?

@swe-pansar (I'm planning to edit my main text with an additional section, were am answering the most frequent concerns, questions and criticisms. So "why shouldn't it be widely accessible though" is a excellent question, I'll have that added later.)

@elmo6842 I feel as if you keep getting killed by the black powder kegs and are just trying to get them not available.

@swe-pansar (I'm going to summon this down to; "Do you have a personal Vendetta over this item, and just want to get rid of it?" I'll add this one to the list of questions.)

@elmo6842 I as a PvP player never use kegs no need to I refuse to have them on my boat even a keg rowboat. But as you keep saying about dropping kegs in the water behind you well if somebody is chasing someone and they are dumb enough to be directly behind them that is on them then they deserve to be hit by whatever is coming their way. You need to be at the advantage of not giving that person in front of you any opportunity to get to you like that or get the opportunity to jump off and board you.

@swe-pansar (This wasn't said by me to prove my point on the keg situation, rather to crush the argument of (observation) by @Europa4033)

@elmo6842 If you are off to the side of them they have no chance of hitting your ship with anything and you can see them.

@swe-pansar (Thanks for validating the latest part of my argument, against @Europa4033)

@elmo6842 To me the Black kegs don't do enough damage on sloops anyways even if you die you always have enough time to get back and repair.

@swe-pansar (Well, I no longer think they are Game Ender's, more like a Game Changer, and a powerful one, that can sway the way of battle.)

@elmo6842 Most people don't even bother with them.

@swe-pansar (This is a good one; "Most people don't even bother with them" I'll add this one to the list of questions.)

@elmo6842 Only time they are good is to get rid of the skelly ships.

@swe-pansar ("to get rid of the skelly ships" lame enough, yes. But I don't see this is a good thing, it has destroyed the entire purpose of this world encounter. And what if you don't want to destroy it, Imagine a skelly ship appears on your player opponent, it's like a gift basket. So you shoot yourself over, when the skelly ship is about to sail in front of your duelist. Climb, grab, jump off, maybe swim for a sec, then boom.)

@elmo6842 They don't even kill bosses.

@swe-pansar (I guess not, but they do make a dent on their health pool.) (Again, i'm planning to edit my main text with an additional section, were am answering the most frequent concerns, questions and criticisms. I will be busy with that, if you continue to type stuff, then I would appreciate if it were in short formed, questions, concerns or criticisms, so that I could address them, thanks.)

  • @europa4033 You: "If you're following directly behind a ship, and they drop 1 big keg or 5 smaller kegs and you sink, which option gives your enemy the lowest risk to be observant over what you're planning?"

@swe-pansar (you're getting the entire perspective wrong, you are the one being chased, not the one chasing.)

@europa4033 Me: "If I'm following directly behind a ship in the path of their wake, I can either A: not see them drop keg(s) and get sunk, or B: See them drop keg(s) and not have enought time to maneuver my ship, which in both cases, I sink.....which teaches me a painful lesson about following them in their wake."

@swe-pansar 1x. (Were are we in your twisted version of my example, one Blunderbomb throw away? I would expect the big chaser to have at least 1-4 eyes onto the smaller chip from a further distance, in order to react.) and (Because chasers are usually far behind, if you are closing the distance between you two, you then tend to turn to your side and begin the engagement part. The chaser then becomes the engager, when this happens, your twisted version of my hypothetical scenario becomes a different discussion.)

@europa4033 You: "Haha I gotchu to where you refuse to choose properly. We both know your argument collapses, no matter what you would've chosen. Just because this one example hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean people don't fall victim to it. And, no amount of observation could've seen that one coming. Mic drop. I'll see myself out."

@swe-pansar (I never intended to mock, that much. My intent is to prove you wrong, that your ways of seeing this got provable flaws. So no HaHa's only boo-hoo's.) also (I realized after, that I should have added a BOOM before the mic drop, you know, because of the keg? get it? I thought that would have been clever.)

@europa4033 Me: "Exactly. Just because I see them dropping kegs doesn't mean I can quickly steer the ship out of harm's way. Even if I don't see them, my ship is still in harm's way. Regardless of seeing/not seeing, the end result is the same. This is why when chasing another ship, staying in their wake is a bad idea, exactly for this reason."

@swe-pansar 2x. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.

@europa4033 You: "Observation doesn't always help you in this game."

@europa4033 Me: "I can't think of a scenerio where it wouldn't help you, since bad things happen when you're not paying attention, which experience teaches you. Kinda like learning how not to follow another ship's wake."

@swe-pansar Kind of already answered this one day ago, so Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. ("like I said "Friend or Foe, to be observant is just a passive factor which always have to be taken into account." but this isn't the solution to the issue. The issue being (the frequency and availability of (THIS) insta kill device in particular, is being chosen to do the job) I don't know how more specific I can get.") And I can't get any more specific, because this is the perfect answer.)

@europa4033 So, you still haven't explained what the issue is here? You sink in both cases whether or not you see them drop keg(s) in the water, which is a lesson for you to not follow in their wake. By learning that, no matter what they drop behind them, won't do anything if you're now experienced. "Oh hey look, they dropped a Smuggler's keg/kegs behind them. Glad we aren't directly behind them huh?"

@swe-pansar 3x. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.

@europa4033 You're asking Rare to make these things way less common,

@swe-pansar I split the last one up. (yes, YES. And my defense is so far Unbroken, waterproof may I say.) ok (Maybe a little water comes through okay, but I'm planning to board up those holes, my plan is to edit my main text with an additional section, answering the most frequent concerns and questions.) and (I will be busy with that, so if you continue to type stuff, then I would appreciate if it were in short formed, questions, concerns or criticisms, so that I could address them, thanks.)

@europa4033 because you can't steer your ship slightly offset from the ship you're chasing??

@swe-pansar I'm not going to copy paste my answer for the fourth time. (No, I'm the tiny sloop with loud ideas, that are baiting in a bigger ship with big flawed opinions. Dropping a keg, which is filled to the brim, with another Gotcha, and can't be spotted in time, before it goes BOOM, mic drop.) Noticed what I did there? I recovered from my earlier missed opportunity. I have been Vindicated!!! :D

  • @burnbacon So in the end since its starting to become a bickering fight from OP who "Deems They are Correct" because they had maybe 1 or 2 moments where a BPB was used on them, and they themselves failed to survive.

@swe-pansar (I don't deem I'm correct, no one else has simply convinced me of a better solution.) (1 or 2? You have no idea. I have lost count my good sir, and that's before they plan to fix the player encounter issue.) ("and they themselves failed to survive." they/them? are you assuming my gender? just joking XP)

@burnbacon Its not easy to find, but they claim it is because of one season ago it was everywhere, and not if they come across any ship...who has one, its to much.
Nothing is a Guaranteed win. You can lose as well, all Tools of this game have a backhand to them, used incorrectly can cost you.

@swe-pansar (It is easy to find, though. The issue is still ongoing, lucky you I guess, for not blowing up that often, or expecting a good long fight, only for your enemy to go up and smoke, cause they had one on them, stripping you of the joy of battle.) and (I suppose I should change my opinion on the Black Powder Barrel, from a Game Ender to a Game Changer. This doesn't change much for the unsuspecting, but I don't want to change that, it's the way one can obtain it, that I want to change.)

@burnbacon (also claims Wraith balls are OP...but we all know most players cant aim a cannon shot to save themselves.) I suggest a simple Anchor ball or Ballast are worse. But that something else...

@swe-pansar (You're right, again. I'll now change my stance on the Wraith Balls from a Game Ender to a Game Changer, too. And yeah, I suppose all Curse Balls are game changers, in their own way, but not in the (making holes)-department, side glancing at you Phantom Cannonballs, you are not a Game Changer, or an upgrade, not even a sidegrade, please get a purpose!! How about you start facing through the enemy ship, making two, level one holes, one on each side of the ship. Sorry for the side tantrum, needed to get that out of my system.)

@burnbacon and some reason they think "Talking like this" will get there point across and Im sus its AI generated responses at this point.

@swe-pansar AI generated. (That have got to be the biggest glaze someone have given to my writing abilities. I practically blushed when I read this at first. You know, It haven't been easy for me, someone with the struggle of dyslexia and all, but thanks.)

@swe-pansar (I'm planning to edit my main text with an additional section, were am answering the most frequent concerns, questions and criticisms. So I will be busy with that, if you continue to type stuff, then I would appreciate if it were in short formed, questions, concerns or criticisms, so that I could address them, thanks.)

  • @swe-pansar

If the situation is that I'm the one being chased, I wouldn't have kegs on board my ship period. If they board or shoot me with enough cannonballs, it could be bad for me. Easy solution.

If I already have kegs on board, and the ship chasing me doesn't observe me throw the keg(s) down behind me in the water and they sink, it's a win for me (so....why should Rare make these limited again?).

Even if Rare decided tomorrow to make them rare, there's still normal kegs all over the place that still doesn't change the situation either way.

It all boils down to being observant, and having situational awareness. Rare doesn't need to make any kegs rare.
