Are you server merging a lot? If not...your just not running into players because they are doing other stuff.

Example? I mean....reading the forums and other social media. I still see or come across players upset they "cant do anything without some pvp sweaty toxic player"

The game is barely hanging on. Steam shows 4k players online atm. Probably another 10k-ish between Xbox and PS, considering you’re matched with players in your own region, dividing 14k-isn’t players up between all regions, the game is nearly dead.
Steam is probably the smallest by far, oh and you missed like half of other platforms and launchers that SoT can be launched from.
Can Steam be taken for granted in thinking if numbers go down on Steam it translates elsewhere? Logically I would say yes..
I would agree with you that Steam is doing really bad though, the game on there hasn't reach 10k monthly players since July of 2024, that's almost a year.. It dipped to 5k before season launched and now it's staggering around 6-7k and I wouldn't be surprised if by end of 2025 it hit's an all time low 4k players... If RARE once again decides to put on an act but in reality don't listen nor take player feedback seriously, which they haven't for years so GG.MixelPlx the other day on stream (If he wasn't lying) said he got shared some numbers from a RARE dev/employee of total players that play monthly and it's in the 100K +.
Granted this was maybe a couple of years ago, but let's just say it's EASILY around 70-100k Monthly individual players still playing, that's still a big number.Depends on time of day, location and so on.
Lots of activity on weekends and late evenings. I live in Finland, and lots of other northern europeans online at that time. We also see lots of french and german people.
During daytime (my local daytime) its usually quieter, but usually there are some sails seen on the far horizon.

Granted this was maybe a couple of years ago, but let's just say it's EASILY around 70-100k Monthly individual players still playing, that's still a big number.I'd say that's too low an estimate; the number of Gold Hoarder Emissaries last month was 369k; there will be some alts included, but I doubt that's a significant number (and can probably at least be strikken against the number of people not voting Gold Hoarder Emissary up in March).
Steam is irrelevant when it is on PC Gamepass and consoles LOL.
Look at emissary ledgers for a more accurate player count.

You did. I was a newer pirate. You were a red skeleton. Not very even match. I just remember seeing the name HiradC and almost freaking out because I thought it said HitboTC.
Yes, the servers are very bugged too. I was really looking forward to doing hourglass this weekend and finally make some levels.
