This post might be me venting a little, sorry.
Currently, the leveling experience in this gamemode feels too grindy. To give some background: I (+ some friends) spent some 30 hours in Hourglass these past few months (Counting PVP mode on) while leveling up just about 30 levels. I am Flameheart faction level 46, my friend is 56.
At current rate it seems in order to reach lvl 100 we need to spenf around 100 hours in-game. Consider also, that this is the time spent only on Hourglass. There's also hundreds of achievements to do, other companies to level up etc. Personally, that feels like too much time demanded by one gamemode.
Here's the kicker: I do not care about curses! Don't wanna be a skeleton or a ghost. The only reason I am doing hourglass is to get access to Flameheart's lair - this is what this topic is about.
It feels really unfair to have to reach level 100 in HG in order to access new game areas.
Therefore, my suggestion is simple: it would ne nice of Rare could lower the level-cap required for players to access Flameheart's lair and Pirate Legends hideout respectfully. For example: make the accessible at HG lvl 75, without changing anything else.
Also, the main problem with the gamemode is that matches can take... any amount of time. It's funny that if you actually meet a crew as skilled as yours you might fight for an hour until supplies end. It's the equal skill-level that would stop you from sinking each other. Needless to say there's ZERO fun in sinking after too prolonged a fight.
Therefore, It'd be great to add a timer to the Hourglass with score winner at the end is the opponent didn't sink. For example: 20 minutes - more than enough to execute all kinds of strategies. It might even be not that hard to implement if the team still has Arena code - that gamemode already had the timer figured out. As for that scoring system - might be possible to rewards players for different actions taken during a fight, that can be decided by Rare.
That's about it.
The methods proposed above might be doable without spending too many of Rare's resources. I highlighted my 2 main suggestions, sorry if this post is not as polished
Good day and stuff
