I know, there is safe seas but its really bad because you can't use captain ships there.
It would be nice to have a non pvp server and a pvp server, in the pve one you can encounter other players but damage is disabled, for youself and ship as an example
Giving players a choice between PVE and PVP
I fully agree, I've been saying for a very long time now that giving players a choice to not engage in PvP is something that this game severely needs.
Hourglass is awful and toxic AF, most people in hourglass are cheating or exploiting bugs and glitches like quick swapping and more.
But why do we only have a choice to engage in PvP? Why is there no decent proper PvE only option?
SOOOO many more of my friends would actually play this game if Safer Seas didn't have all of the ridiculous restrictions it has. I've tried playing it with multiple of them and all of them said the restrictions were too severe and uninstalled the game...
Rare needs to realize that even though they want this perfect world where players interact with each other in PvP without being toxic in reality that just doesn't happen and never will.
PvP naturally brings toxicity with it and no matter what you do it always will and there's no way to prevent that.
This is why there's so little people playing this game nowadays. No one wants to be forced to engage in PvP that is broken, unbalanced, and unfair.
Rare needs to realize that allowing players to only engage in PvE if they so choose to is not a bad thing. It wouldn't be harmful to this game at all whatsoever. The only thing that allowing players full access to all PvE only content would do is bring more players to this currently dying game.
As it is Safer Seas is nothing but a band-aid that isn't actually fixing the problem it's only covering it up temporarily.
The game is still lacking player numbers and for good reason. And adding more PvP focused content like they have been doing has only made things worse and worse.
Back when they kept adding more and more PvE content to the game (like adventures and tall tales and voyages and more) player numbers kept going up and up and up because the people playing this game don't want more PvP content we want more PvE content.
Rare seriously needs to stop adding PvP focused garbage that no one wants and instead focus on PvE like they were before.
And if Rare would actually reduce or even fully remove all of the PvE restrictions in place for Safer Seas SOOOOOOO many more people would start actually playing this game!
PvP is only dragging this game down and making it worse. PvE is what actually makes this game what it is and brings in players.
Rare needs to realize this and make changes accordingly to make this game actually good and truly a fun enjoyable experience for anyone and everyone who plays it.
I think Rare will very quickly realize that there are A LOT more people in this world who enjoy playing PvE content in video games then there are who enjoy PvP content.
I just hope that they realize this and make changes and add more PvE focused content to the game and allow players to only engage in PvE focused content if they so choose (all PvE content without restrictions) before the player numbers get too low and Microsoft ends up pulling the plug on Sea of Thieves (like Activision did with Anthem may it rest in peace).
@doriania2706 as stated by rare, and the mods when they lock threads like this:
The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.
Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.
This is not only useful for new players but also families and players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly becomes available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and become a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.
The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.
SoT has always had balancing issues that needed worked on but one of the main issues with SoT is it created a culture that enables the idea of "I shouldn't lose". In general that's a terrible thing to enable in gaming and life.
It's not just the inexperienced players or the players that aren't as skilled in pvp, it's every other group as well, regularly pressuring Rare to help them to not lose, through patches.
Imbalance is not good and balance should always be the goal, but pvp itself and people losing once in a while has never been a problem here. It should happen somewhat regularly to everyone.
Humility and understanding are built on losing, and adapting and overcoming. It's healthy to lose in competition and adventure.
In season 11 there were 2 major season long bugs and 1 bug that has been around since season 8.
In season 11 the skelly ships weren't repairing so they were essentially sinking themselves.
The megs weren't attacking at all. Zero.
Other people's megs have been running away since Season 8.
Yet both inexperienced and experienced players were still going on and on about pve spawns, to the point where Rare nerfed emergent spawns in a season where the emergent spawns were either not causing any damage or were sinking to 1 cannonball.
The point? The narratives rarely change with the times. People stick to their frustrations rather than fair analysis of the environment that exists.
The same goes for pvp. The game is far less intense, way less combat, way less attacks, way less tucking and interference. Yet people stick to the same narrative.
This all has made pve and pvp worse in this game, by sticking to "what is frustrating to me should always be nerfed" no matter what is happening in the game or how it has changed.
