HourGLass "Runners"

  • Iv noticed a recent trend on Hourglass people running away for the entire match to make the others quit instead of fighting. this is really annoying its either chase for 2 hours or lose your streak. i suggest we either make the circle get smaller over time maybe after 10 minutes. at this point there is nothing you can do than try to out wait them or lose.
please please fix this. these players don't deserve wins because they sit on the phones for 2 hours saying haha at you as you try to PVP IN THE PVP MODE.

  • I've noticed this as well. These players don't deserve any gains from the mode and it needs to be managed in some form. I like the idea of enclosing the circle to a point in order to bring combat closer. In general, if you go into hourglass, don't waste other players time. We're grinding just like the rest of the community. It can be tough enough on loss streaks without a bunch of trolls prolonging fights and wasting everyone's time. Do your trolling in adventure.

  • @bubba-pegleg id also like to say i understand about chain shots and getting in a good position but if your low or run out there's nothing you can do

  • I think it’s because they’re out of supplies. That’s the only time I’ve had someone run. But even then just like grab some barrels on the fly. Don’t just run for the sake of hoping the other guy gives up.😅

Also while I totally agree. I also have found a lot of people accusing me of “running” because I see they’re trying to board and I have to turn away. They’re mad they miss the board and they’ll start talking smack. What am I supposed to just keep sailing towards you so you can get what you want?

Also there’s a moment right after you get your sails back after having them dropped where everyone and their mother runs haha. As a solo slooper, you have to run for a second just to repair the mast. And again players will use this moment to accuse you of running because they’re mad you got your sails back up.

  • this is really annoying

If I annoy you into surrendering. I should always win. XD

If you can’t outplay someone. You aren’t worthy of the victory (rowboats) are key

By the replies, I can tell these are one trick players and follow a single path. It funny.

Defending, cannon rowboat, and active fortress and few kegs. Run all you want, you won’t notice the small boat blowing you up XD

  • @burnbacon What a lame take on the issue. Two ships going the same speed. One of them doing everything they can to avoid engagement. Nah. Its outright trolling.

no cowards shouldn't always win its a pvp mode. its not about being better or out playing.
an example we tried everything including boards but you cant get on with 4 people guarding one latter and when are always watching for row boats. you get close at all there's someone watching.

what should have i done then gally vs gally. we ran out of chain shots and they ran we tried rowboat and swimming but there watching both. we get close with good cannons light them up and go to board theres two at the latter two down stairs and there ship is running full blast. what do i do then. there isnt anything it isnt anoying it ruins the hour glass you dont earn anything from it

Also if you cant win by fighting you don't deserve the win

im gonna say it agian. if you cant win the pvp mode by fighting you dont deserve the win.

  • @bubba-pegleg
I completely agree with your points about this trend in Hourglass. I also encountered this scenario earlier, and it was incredibly frustrating. This "strategy" of running away for the entire match feels like it goes against the integrity of the PvP mode. PvP is supposed to be about combat, skill, and strategy in engaging the opponent, not evading them for hours just to make them quit out of sheer frustration.

    Coward no unga bunga

  • @burnbacon you got any clips of this? Sounds highly situational and hard to pull off. If you're on a rowboat then that trick would only work once, and you better land those chain shots.

  • How are you unable to catch the ship in a finite space?

  • @bubba-pegleg Strong player battles can last 2 hours, so reducing the lap would break the balance and the winner would be chosen randomly. If you are unable to stop a fleeing ship, it is stronger than you and will win by patience) That's why I don't play sloops alone, there 70% of players just run away. On other ships you can always catch up with your opponent in any situation

  • Just a PSA you can block specific members of the forum if you feel their posts dont add anything to your discussion and only serve to irritate.

  • Unfortunately until Rare gives PVE players a way to get the 2 curses you will see this behavior as a petty tactic to try and cheese wins.

I still think a “shrinking circle” will have terrible effects a smaller footprint in general would help. A constantly moving ship could get “Rared” and the ship that was running makes it to the other side of the island before the circle closes and you don’t, thus forcing you to lose to a Runner.
