Loot carrying

  • So I enjoy the new mechanics but with tightrope walking with loot and you can actually sprint where it goes onto your back, perhaps it's time to rethink normal loot carrying?

Not full speed sprint, but it's a little strange that the ability to carry loot like that is only there when on a rope. I know when you sit in rowboat, climb ladders etc it also goes on your back but movement speed doesn't apply there

Edit to add I haven't had a chance to test the speed alongside someone just carrying on land but certainly feels faster

  • @hiradc Maybe this is Rare testing mechanics this may be the first stage of movement updates ?

  • @sairdontis4317 they don't tend to do that, they bring in something new that just makes old mechanics defunct. We'll see though

  • Still like to see a Pirate belt or something that enables you to carry one or more small items (gems or decorative coffers)

  • I feel like it makes perfect sense from a gameplay perspective. It seems like Rare doesn't want the ability to sprint with loot in normal circumstances, but they've clearly designed harpoon walking with boarding enemy ships in mind.

Being able to quickly board an enemy ship, grab a piece of high value loot, and quickly return to your ship is pretty vital if this scenario is going to be workable. If you can't sprint back you're simply too exposed to make the risk worth it, and then we get none of the fun shenanigans associated with the new mechanic.

Sprinting with loot along a harpoon line is extremely limited anyways, and I'm perfectly fine with where it's at.

  • @habiki Fun new mechanics are welcome always :D .
