Matchmaking is broken for Midwest.

  • Ahoy,

I've been sailing since day one. However, the matchmaking is painful for me. I'm routinely connected to west coast servers even though my ping is lower on central servers. I live in Northern Colorado.

Could we PLEASE get a rework of the matchmaking? With ping between 80-110 my guns don't shoot half the time.

When I'm on Central I get 50-70 ping. This would also benefit my crew as I play with people who are West and East Coast. A middle ground for ping makes everyone happy.

  • For reference, I'm playing on the windows store PC version.

  • @sacred-ikon I'm not sure if I can leave links here, but there is a site with all the Microsoft Azure server locations. I'm east coast, and I have a similar issue where my ping is usually around 80-100. Only solution I've found is connecting my VPN to the location nearest the server closest to me, which is somewhere in Virginia. Doing this drops my ping to a more stable 60-70.

I got to the site through a link on a Reddit post named "Sea of Thieves Server Locations confirmed!" from 6 years ago.

    Hopefully this helps.

  • @aionicape This is crazy. There's a server a couple of hours away from me. Why the heck don't I ever connect to it?! This is ridiculous.

  • @sacred-ikon
I'd suggest making a bug post about this

  • Update:

Now I'm getting matched to West Coast servers. My ping is now 110-150 all the time. My guns don't shoot. Players don't take damage.

Rare, every season you break the game more. I took a 2-year break because the ping and hit reg was horrendous 3 years ago. I'm about to write the game off altogether.

Get it together, 6 years in constant live development, "released" and we're still dealing with game-breaking issues.

    East coast, not west.
