How will the upcoming anti-cheat system affect GNU/Linux users?

  • Usually games with anti-cheat systems don't allow to play (or outright get a ban) on GNU/Linux platforms and I was wondering if such case is being considered?

  • I’d imagine they’d want to keep the game’s Steam Deck Verified status, so it will likely still be Proton/SteamOS compatible at least. There are some games with anti-cheat that still are Steam Deck Verified, so it’s possible. I don’t know about other Linux distros though.

  • I'm using Garuda Linux distro (special linux for gaming) and setted Sea of Thieves lauch with Proton. And sometimes EAC reacts on it like integrated Proton violently to SoT and sent me warning. I wonder - will I be banned for it?

  • As this thread was months old and revived today, it will now be locked.

A general reminder to all, please avoid reviving threads aged past 30 days, as it is considered a necro, and is against our Forum Rules.

    Bumping Threads
Bumping threads with content that is not providing additional information to the original post is not permitted. Resurrecting very old threads is also not permitted. A warning will be issued and the thread locked. Ignoring the warning will result in a temporary ban from the Forums and a final warning. On a side note, Sea of Thieves does not officially support Linux outside of Steam Deck.
