Can we progress multiple guilds at once?

  • The title says it all. What’s the point of having 3 guild slots if we can only progress one at a time? No one is going to progress someone else’s guild over their own.

This wouldn’t bother me if the guild emissary wasn’t locked behind LV 15

To answer the title: No you can't; you only progress the guild the ship you're sailing on belongs to. A ship can only be pledged to one guild.

People might sail with totally different groups; for example a few times a week with a PvP heavy one and in the weekend do quests with another group. Some of these groups might be small enough to also have room for the other ones - others don't. Perhaps people like to have their groups also in different guilds.

Other groups might have more than 24 members - they can try to form different guilds with some overlap in membership. Have a guild of guilds so to speak - either they try to compete with each other or they try to have an even distrubution so all guilds will level up at the same pace. It's up to the group's preference.

  • If your guilds have members it will progress when others play.

If your guild is solo, you are in for a rude surprise, for solo players it moves really, really slow. I went out this morning and just gunkholed around, sunk a skeleton, raided a shipwreck, killed a skeleton captain on a small island and got some loot.

Solo, my guild went up maybe 3% of 1 level. The activity was enough to get me to renown 7.

The speed of the rep gains are based on number of members involved.

  • So far. I’ve joined a guild with 8 people, split between 2 on a sloop. Together we spent time collecting treasures from all shrines, fortresses and random events. (No pvp atm)

Total hours, 5. Level raised? 2
Talk about long grind and I thought hourglass was gonna be a grind.

I was active in two sessions, first one as a duo on a sloop - did a FoF(*) and then some OoS voyages to get to grade 5 and did two of the emissary quests on small islands. Second session was on a brigantine, did 3 FotD as a Gold Hoarder. The guild is now 2/3 on level 1 (the whole crew is member of one guild). Renown is level 39.

(*) we had quite a busy session - fought three or four ships during the FoF alone, guess they thought the CoF was still there 😁.

  • @coffeelight5545 72 players split between 3 guilds is more than enough to make progress between all of the guilds. It’s not a rush and race to the finish line, like Hourglass.

  • @tesiccl Well, since you are 1 of those players in all 3 those guilds, it's a maximum of 70 players (you + 69 others) if there are no other dubplicates...

The only question i have, if you play with someone from another guild, would you still progress for the guild commendations. I get it that you won't get progress towards your own guild, since you are then playing for another guild at that moment. But you would still for instance reach a grade 5 guild flag, so does that still count for your personal commendation?

  • @coffeelight5545 I think it's so if you prefer not solo slooping you look at who is sailing and joinable at any given time.

  • @super87ghost well from my understanding, you only get progress towards that guild you sail for so if you invited someone from a different guild, they wouldn’t be getting any progress in the first place. I think the idea is if you’re gonna sail for your guild, it’s best to have those in the guild sail with you, otherwise one is progressing while the other isn’t.

  • @tesiccl I think you understood my question wrong. I was talking about your commendations. They are not tied to a specific guild. You can start with a commendation in your first guild and later on progress further in your second guild.

The question was just if you could only progress in a ship that is in your guild, or on any ship that is an any guild, regardless if you are a member of that guild or only a guest.

  • @super87ghost then probably not.
