Roaming and immersive Krakens and Megs sea effects

  • These past years with the whole Mermaid content i find ourselves spending an increasing amount of time underwater.

With Season 8 we get glimpses of a lone megalodon happily swimming away pondering why its aggressively attacked whenever it surfaces when it surfaces and tries to say hello. So misunderstood!

Anyways i thought it would be pretty cool to get some of that type of thing in the seas!

Not aware of how technical or hard it would be to add but would love to see emergent megalodons when you swim in the sea and even Krakens (as we now have models for that).

Now, these would be rare occurences but check this, if say you shoot it, it will get angry and swim below and out of sight…thus triggering a megalodon / kraken spawn on your ship when you return!!
Not all the time mind! Sometimes they may just descend below never to be seen again!

There is a reason they should swim below first and despawn before they attack if they decide to and here is why..

By swimming down and disappearing you dont have to make the actual swimming model the actual thing you fight! It would appear as if it is but no, it swims down, disappears and spawns an encounter of the same type! Hence the actual megalodon you see swimming could be used as a marker to initiate it!

The reason i thought to do it like this is because it would be easier to just trigger an event rather than change megalodons or krakens to behave this way. Its a simple switcheroo to save resources and maybe time and hassle.

Of course thats if you want to mess with them. You can enjoy them for what they are, cool looking ambient sea effects that make the seas feel more alive!

They dont have to be contained below the waves too! You could have a Meg sometimes jump up to catch a flock of seagulls whilst you sit on the deck of your passing ship going “Whoa did you see that!?”

Perhaps catch a kraken having a fight with a few merfolk underwater.
Watch a megalodon circle the area at a far distance whilst swimming in a shipwreck.
Watch a Kraken pull up near an empty beach and wag two of its tentacles causing birds in the palm tree to scarper away, only for the kraken to retreat back into the water!
Watch a kraken play with the wreck of a ship like it is a toy and eat it or drag it further below the sea out of sight! You get the picture! I could see people losing their minds watching this unfold!

These kind of things would add a whole new feeling of you being a tiny miniscule speck out at sea.

No doubt somebody is gonna reply soon saying its a terrible idea like they do every single post someone puts on here. But i do these ideas mainly to pass the time when im bored at work so im dropping this here anyway!

    Safe seas!

  • Atmospherically it would be great to incorporate some of what it suggested in your post.

With render distance stuff I could see that being an issue.

Then there is the question of is the appeal worth the effort?

There are people like me that have loved monster/creature/beast pve for years and consistently participated in the hunt but we are kinda few and far between from my experience.

People are so often focused on something else that they don't want to be kraken'd and ignore megs while expressing that they aren't really into it.

Might see a bit more interest on the xbox preferred servers as they can often be more on the adventure side of things but long term interest would still probably struggle.
