Adventure is just a trolls heaven

  • I've completed it several times.

The Troll element is as weak as the Dark Brotherhood boots they lick.

May the Hitreg be against them 😆

  • @wolfmanbush well said good sir!

Good for you for having your cute little roleplay fantasies and you are right its a sandbox game and you should be able to do whatever you like but there are still morals in this game and end goals to things including this adventure which obviously don't require you to stop people from completing the objective

There are rules in this game and people agree to them by participating but the game is largely stealing and sinking each other in an environment where we know it upsets some people and where we know many are not going to be able to defend themselves well.

This is a food chain, some of us have personal codes we follow but I don't see accuracy in acting as if we as a community are not largely interfering with players that have different interests and often times far less skills.

We are pirates, we are not knights, and seeing ourselves as different is only an illusion.

    You're not a pirate, lol.

Nah, just a player of a pirate themed video game. Nobody playing is really a pirate, or even really RPing as one when they PVP, its just a game.

  • The thing is, when you RP a pirate you are doing so under the illusion/pretence you are fighting other in-game pirates. The truly toxic players (I would class the TDMers in the Adventure as such) are not doing that, they are trying to upset the player behind the pirate and using RP as an excuse to do so.

You may not be Role-Playing on the sea, but there are definitely players that do. I've met some.

  • I feel like this is a major issue, all ships and players just respawn in the new adventure with all their loot. In their boat and on them. I had a crew who would shoot me as soon as I spawned in, meaning even if I wanted to quit the adventure and start over with a new area I couldn't. I could not even cancel because as soon as I spawn I was killed, there was no accessing my book or tall tale to quit. You have to physically close the game and restart. What a great promotion.

  • forget sleeping on your ship for 2,000 hours, if you manage to complete this adventure you will earn an achievement harder than finding the shrouded ghost, you found an entire server of players who are actually nice!

Yes! It's Insanity in there and I'm surprised anyone can complete it. Most people I've seen are going in and getting frustrated and leaving the game once again to play something else. Also, excuse me sleep in your bed for 2000 hours.... Does it only count if it's healing you or... Just sleep in general?

um just sleep, no healing required. it was a captaincy milestone, they've fixed it since then but still.

  • @realstyli I just rolled into a session to assist folks, or just check it out and wow. I gotta tell you there was so much griefing in that session it was discouraging. A brig crew, from what I could overhear, was trying to work the adventure. A sloop crew kept going over the brig and slaughtering them; again the brig crew just wanteed to enjoy the adventure experience. At that point the brig crew went from being subdued to salty because they were getting frustrated because from a snip later in the conversation one of the sloop crew members says, "I'm just here to PVP." And as the level of frustration grew for the brig crew, both sides are now starting to "report" each other. I feel that the sloop crew, once they got the brig crew riled up continued to be unkind to the brig and enjoying themselves knowing that they got under somebody's skin.

What's sad is that the brig crew showed have NOT brought themselves down to the level of the attacking sloop's attitude. And the sloop crew, being children, were there to PVP, and not giving up and continued to spawn camp the brig crew. At that point, the sloop turned their attention to me, I just cancelled the voyage.

  • @pickelking101 Start up one of the Pirate's Life Tall tales and sleep, I have around 114 minutes of sleeping so far. ;) One of my regular crewmates asked what I was doing today. My reply, "Sleeping."

  • Yeah, this adventure has been a trolls paradise. My crew and I finished the adventure early on, but now we just go in and help other crews. We have been joining the adventure servers just to police the toxic players. It's kind of ridiculous right now.

  • @pvekilla420 said in Adventure is just a trolls heaven:

@realstyli what if you want to roleplay that you are Amaranta's hench men and stop people from spoiling her plans? it's a sandbox game people can do whatever they like... you 'THINK' it is toxic but that is just your opinion... I think it's a toxic mindset to think everyone has to agree on the same goal...

When people say in chat "I'm here TDMing to ruin other players' experience" that is not RPing. That's just being toxic trash because they have nothing better to do than cause literal grief.

Yep, that's their entire aim. If they can get the other crew so frustrated that they start getting "toxic" back then they've covered themselves against reports.

As hard as it is, the best thing to do in those situations is record, remain civil, and gather evidence for reporting. You can be salty, but keep it clean.

It's the weekend, so my hope is that we should see some actual response from Rare tomorrow once they are back in the office. Unfortunately, when it comes to toxicity, Rare have a record of being slow and reactive rather than proactive.

Over two years ago things came to a head and we asked them to do better and give us better tools to deal with reporting these situations. So far, I've yet to see them actually improve things in that regard.

  • Attempted this several times now.

Won't try again. Don't mind a bit of pvp, but this is just mindless annoyance.

And yes, I've played the game long enough to know it's a throw of the dice to which server I land in and how my experience will be. But I see no benefit from trying to go through this charade again.

A poorly thought out concept once again. Something Rare seem to be excelling at of late.

Merrick can stay dead! He is the cause of all forced cooperation events.

  • @schwammlgott I didn’t we ran it a few times and every time there was someone try to TDM everyone else also not everyone has the time to run this they may get a few hours over a weekend because life can’t just server hop until you get a friendly one

  • @goldsmen Let's hope so, if their able to instance events so much give us a new SoT sized sea outside the shroud where we conquer Grand Maritime Union forts, and give us a real adventure for PvP crews, so lil dudes in their sloop can complete a damn 15 min adventure. oof this news about the adventure is sad.

From tomorrow onwards the adventure will pair you with ONE other crew max. The time to complete the first part of the adventure has been extended to one hour. Save that ole fisherman!

  • @sudsierboar5526 Rare showing once again they are scared of PVP

  • @pabio-escobar ...funny enough real pirates in the 1700s rarely sunk ships and killed the crew... Because if they stole from them and let them live, less than a year later, that same crew would come back with a new shipment to steal. If you kept killing everyone, noone would take up the routes.

Most crews would see the ships banner, know that perticular banner tended to be merciful, and would surrendered without a fight. Their cargo was often covered by insurance incase of piracy... The crews however weren't.

  • I try to be positive, but this adventure is garbage. Instanced into a one map square space with multiple crews and instant respawn so you can be toxically camped to death......

All so you can complete an adventure that is basically the same parkour course you are able to do at sea dog tavern in adventure mode.

It's like Rare took the Shrouded Deep adventure with it's cooperative element (which I really enjoyed), saw how there was a dedicated section of the player base that enjoyed griefing the junk out of folks, and said "let's do it again but make it even closer quarters this time."

Terrible design for a bland adventure. Gotta call this one like I see it.

  • Tbh, I like this TDM thing. At least its not more of the same and the pvp action is intense.

  • @scurvywoof said in Adventure is just a trolls heaven:

    Ever heard of Oceania? 😉

I have only encountered one sloop that wanted to TDM.. my galleon sunk them on the spot without too much effort, I sail on OCE servers all the time when I want to host my ship since I am in Australia.

  • @pvekilla420 said in Adventure is just a trolls heaven:

Nope, just showing they didnt make a pvp game.

  • Interestingly, I had the complete opposite experience with this adventure.

Went into the portal, two other sloops and a galleon were all in with us. I spent a bit of time exploring and gathering supplies from barrels and the adventure was completed. The rest of the crews did everything, I didn't even get the chance to start it.

I thought it was funny more than anything, not sure if I'm motivated enough to go back and do it myself to be honest!
