Concept: Artifacts

  • I propose more items are added which are similar to the Ashen Winds Skull (let's call them "artifacts") in that they drop from events, have strong active (or passive effects) and have limited amount of uses (or use time). These artifacts can also be sold for a decent price in gold (or perhaps doubloons?). Here's a few ideas to get this thread started, and if you want to contribute your own ideas feel free to do so:

    Horn of the Wailing Winds - Don't know where you'd get this, but this item, when used, causes the wind to change direction to where you were looking at when you used it. Can be used to give yourself a boost or hinder other players. Limited uses.

    Siren's Call - A conch shell/gem imbued with ancient siren magics that can cause a storm to quickly form on its location when used. Found in a siren Treasury or Shrine, or some other siren-based encounter/event. Limited uses.

    Tome of Summoning - A tome that can rarely be found in skeleton/ghost/Flameheart-related events/encounters. Limited uses. When used, summons a skeleton/ghost galleon to your location. It can be used to distract other players, or you can fight them for extra loot.

    Mermaid's Kiss - A bottle full of strange liquid that, long before their fall from grace, merfolk once gifted to trusted landlubber allies. It grants the ability to, for a time, swim faster and either gives you infinite underwater breathing or at the very least increases the time you can stay underwater for. Limited uses (perhaps only one?). Found in a siren Treasury or Shrine, or some other siren-based encounter/event.

    EDIT 1: The names aren't final, I just came up with them real quickly to at least give them something for a name. And these items would be quite rare, or perhaps there would be a cooldown on obtaining them.

I find the ashen winds skull and the tridents to only be good for commendations and PvE, so having more "utility" items would be nice. I would imagine that some items would need balancing, like the summoning tome you suggested. Spawning a skeleton galleon on a solo sloop would be a free opportunity to either run or sink them.

    Hmm... perhaps it summons one hostile ship for each player ship in the area (be it your ship or another player's)? Or the size of the ship depends on the sizes of player ships in the area, meaning sloop players would summon hostile sloops, or it would summon a sloop hostile when used against a sloop player?
